COMMON MISCONCEPTIONS
Misconceptions and errors may result if students do not know the names and/ or values of certain coins or bills. Errors may also result if students:
- confuse the cent and dollar symbols.
- confuse the values of two or more coins.
- compare two amounts incorrectly.
- make addition or subtraction errors.
TEACHING FOCUS
Practice and Building Confidence
Help students pay careful attention to the words, numbers, coins, and bills in each problem. Build confidence with independent practice counting coins and bills and comparing values to determine if there is enough money for a purchase.
REVIEW THE TEST QUESTIONS
Review the questions students missed on the assessment. This will help you find the misconceptions they have and specifics on their weaknesses, which may help guide your RTI teaching. The video below will show you how to find their test results and access the test questions.
