5 Ways to Prepare for the SEC / ACC Virtual Career Fair:
1. Register to Attend
Click the button above to register for the event, and get all the details you need to log on at your chosen time to chat one-on-one with employers.
2. Research Participating Employers
With 70+ employers attending, and recruiting students in ALL majors, you're sure to find a company that fits you and your career goals. Take some time to review the list of participating employers by clicking on the button above, and research the organizations of interest to you. Review the companies' open positions, and ask targeted questions to learn more about the opportunities being offered.
3. Prepare Your Resume
Make sure your resume is in top condition to share with employers. Prior to the fair, visit your career consultant by scheduling an appointment, attending the Career Center's daily walk-in hours, or visiting your career consultant during satellite hours to have your resume reviewed. Be sure to have a hard copy of your resume in front of your during the fair to reference as you're chatting with employers.
4. Be Ready for Video Chats
While not every employer will be utilizing video chat, some will, so it's important to be prepared. Be sure to dress appropriately, pay special attention to your grooming, and make sure that the area around your computer is free from potential distractions. First impressions count, so it's important to look your best.
Additionally, do your best to make sure that your internet connection is reliable, and make your environment free of noise and distractions to ensure that you can focus on your conversations.
5. Be Professional
Remember to stay professional, even though you're typing rather than speaking. Avoid using abbreviations, emojis, and "text talk," and address the employers as Ms. or Mr. Take notes on your conversations, and remember to follow up with a thank-you email to everyone who speaks with you.
