3rd Quarter End Change
Due to the 3 Thursday cancellations (Black Days) this quarter and events taking place next week we have moved the end of the 3rd quarter date to Friday, March 20, 2020.
Schedule Next Week
Since we will have so many students in the HS and JHS out of the building on Wednesday next week for the Career Fair, The High School will be on the following schedule for next week only.
Monday - ORANGE DAY
Tuesday - BLACK DAY
Wednesday - WHITE DAY
Thursday - MODIFIED ORANGE DAY (Periods 1, 2, 3, 8)
Friday - MODIFIED BLACK DAY (Periods 5, 6, 7, 4)
Hidden in Plain Sight
The Opioid Epidemic is VERY REAL and we view this as a critical topic that ALL Parents should be informed on. Therefore, Parents of HS Students that attend will earn their child a ONE TIME Spring Exam Exemption. Parents of 8th-grade students who attend will receive a fall exam exemption their freshman year.
We are hosting a very important community forum (see flyer below). We are strongly encouraging all 5th through 12th-grade parents to attend this meeting but it is open to all parents. We will be buying a bunch of pizzas for dinner before the event since it starts at 6 pm. We also have our HS NHS and Student Council students babysitting if you need it. We are just asking you to RSVP so we can get a rough estimate of what we need for the evening. The actual event is in the auditorium and is for adults only. Hope to see you on March 10th.
Preparing for Life After High School - FCCLA
By Alex Richardson
Have you ever been worried that when you leave high school you won’t have the necessary skills to be an adult? Are you concerned that you might not be able to find a job or choose a college degree that suits you? Do you feel that you lack leadership skills? If so, then I have the program for you.
Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America, or FCCLA, is a program designed to prepare you for your adult life. FCCLA’s mission is “to promote personal growth and leadership development through Family and Consumer Sciences education. Focusing on the multiple roles of family member, wage earner and community leader, members develop skills for life through: character development, creative and critical thinking, interpersonal communication, practical knowledge, and career preparation.” FCCLA also offers competitions where you can create a Career Development Event project from a variety of topics such as Repurpose and Redesign, Early Childhood Education, Career Investigation, Interpersonal Communication, Food Innovations and Parliamentary Procedure. These projects allow students to explore their interests on a deeper level while developing presentation, communication, organizational and leadership skills. Students also have the opportunity to compete at the local, state and national level.
FCCLA offers students the opportunity to pursue their interests, travel, network with other students, and plan for the future. If you want to join FCCLA next year, you need to take one of Mrs. Vollmar’s FCS classes, such as Personal Financial Management, Principles of Nutrition and Wellness, or Culinary Fundamentals, where you can learn skills such as how to cook, balance a checkbook, and prepare for college. If you have any questions about FCCLA or FCS classes please direct them to Mrs. Vollmar. (jvollmar@otsegoknights.org)

KNOW! How to Set Dating Boundaries
February is Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month. This month, we highlight the fact that one in three teens will experience physical or sexual abuse, or both, and we emphasize efforts and conversations with our children on the importance of healthy relationships. In this tip, the focus is on helping teens build and maintain healthy relationships by setting boundaries with their dating partner. Even if your child isn’t currently in a dating relationship, this is vital information to know and share. It will help set the tone for future dating relationships during their youth and into their adulthood.

Baseball Fundraiser
The baseball team is playing at 5/3 field (Mudhens Stadium) during the spring. They are going to sell the tickets for $15.00, $12 will go towards the fee the Mudhens have in order to play at their field and the remaining $3 will go toward the baseball program.
The tickets that we are selling are NOT for the game that we are playing in. The deal is if you buy a ticket for $15 the ticket is worth a voucher to a Mudhens game. So technically you are buying a voucher to a Mudhens game but also donating $3 toward the baseball program.
If you have any questions please Chase Welker or Jeff Peters CWelker@otsegoknights.org or JPeters@otsegoknights.org
