Oregon-VCU Declared No-contest After Rams Have Multiple Positive COVID-19 Tests
Saturday’s first round of NCAA men’s basketball game was canceled. This game was between seed 7 and seed 10 and there was no-contest declared. This is because the Rams had multiple positive covid tests. The team did say whether the positive tests were from players or other team personnel. The no-contest announcement was three hours before the game. The coach said all the positives came back pretty quickly. The Rams just played the previous Sunday and there were no positives until the end of the week. You have to have seven consecutive days of negative covid tests to be able to play. The team is still able to play if they have five healthy and eligible players. The teams still did not play even though they had enough healthy players. This is the second year the game is canceled right before tipoff.

Suez Canal Blocked by Giant Container Ship Causes a Global Shipping Backup
On Tuesday, a gargantuan cargo ship named the Ever Given ran aground in the busy Suez Canal, blocking maritime traffic from entering or exiting the crucial shipping highway. The ship that weighs 220,000 tons and is the size of the Empire State Building ended up sideways, canal officials say because high winds from a sandstorm restricted visibility around the time the ship got stuck. The Suez Canal, which connects the Red Sea and the Mediterranean through Egypt, is a big part of the global shipping system. Around 10% of worldwide shipping traffic flows through its narrow waters, including roughly 5% of globally traded crude oil. Over 100 ships were stuck at each end of the 120-mile canal, putting even more pressure on the global shipping industry that was already out of whack from the pandemic.
