Cafeteria Corner: Meal Applications

Free & Reduced School Lunch Program

The meal benefits that allowed us to provide free meals to students regardless of income status has ended. Free and reduced-price meals are still available, but families must submit an application for this benefit.

There are many additional benefits of submitting a meal application form. These perks include waivers on college applications, dual-enrollment courses with the College of Southern Maryland, and discounted fees to participate in St. Mary’s County Parks and Rec programs. Families can request more information by contacting SMCPS' Food and Nutrition Services Office at 301.475.4256, Option 5, or via email at foodservice@smcps.org.

Counselor's Corner

October celebrates Unity Day and gives Lexington Park Elementary School an opportunity to come together against bullying. As the School Counselor, I will be visiting classrooms and reviewing how to be an UPSTANDER and stand up against bullying. October 19 we will celebrate Unity Day by WEARING ORANGE and having a whole school picture taken.

Also, we are noticing that the "honeymoon is over" and students are realizing that, while school is fun, it is also work. It is important to send your student to school every day! We understand keeping them home if they are running a fever or throwing up. Thankfully we have a wonderful full time School Nurse to attend to your student if that "tummy ache" that makes them want to stay home develops into a bigger issue. Daily attendance is the #1 indicator of school success.
