Fegely celebrates academic achievements
Last week, the eighth grade teams at Fegely Middle School celebrated student success in the second quarter! They started the day with an award ceremony to honor those students who earned the top scores in academic classes or who rocked the most recent NWEA tests. Then, students who completed the quarter with all A’s, B’s, and C’s were rewarded with a snack party in the cafeteria. It was a great way to reward our students who worked hard during the first semester!

Aylesworth students play Bingo for Books
Our Title I team at Aylesworth Elementary led Bingo for Books with our students who met their Accelerated Reader goals for the second grading period! The students enjoyed taking some time out of their day to play bingo and win books. The books were donated by the family of Ruth Lute, a former teacher at Aylesworth. Her legacy will continue with these books chosen by the students. Thank you to our Title I teachers for organizing this creative way of instilling a love of reading in all of our students!

WMS student introduces Rep. Visclosky at Town Hall
During Monday’s E-Learning Day, many of our staff members participated in valuable professional development opportunities!
Our IT staff attended training on driving a forklift. This will help them be more efficient in moving their needed supplies throughout the district.
Our classroom assistants had a full schedule of professional development! They received suicide prevention training, learned how to support students through difficult times, and learned more about how our high school uses Restorative Practices. Their day ended with Tom and Emily Felter’s The Emily Talk, which helps professionals learn how to best assist our students with special needs.
Thank you to all of our presenters and organizers for sharing your knowledge! Having the time and resources to grow in our professions is invaluable!
Fegely celebrates reading with hot cocoa
As a fun way to encourage students to read over the winter break, sixth grade Fegely Middle School English teachers Mrs. Malaski and Mrs. Norman encouraged their students to curl up with a good book or two over break. Mrs. Malaski and Mrs. Norman rewarded students who read at least one book with cookies and hot cocoa at lunch last week! The students were excited to receive this special treat from their teachers.
Thank you to Coastal Valley Water of Valparaiso for their donation of bottled water and water coolers, which was used to make the delicious hot cocoa.
