Yin Yoga is known as Quiet Yoga.
Yin yoga complement most forms of Yoga which are fundamentally yang in nature. It concentrates on the deeper connective tissues, such as ligaments, bones and joints in our bodies promoting overall physical and emotional well-being and better range of motion. Postures are practised either sitting or lying down and held for a period of 3 -5 minutes. The passive stretches allow the deep connective tissues to be gently stretched while releasing any tightness in the body and encouraging the effective flow of Qi throughout the entire body. In short, Yin yoga is a gentle but powerful practice that brings yoga back to its internal meditative roots, teaching us to relax and accept ourselves just as we are.
