The War Cry
Everyone, Everyday; High Standards, High Achievement
Volume 18-19: Friday, May 17, 2019
Summer is coming, BUT, not just yet. We need your help. Please help us by communicating that school is not over until next Friday, May 24th. I repeat school is not over until May 24th.
We will be purposeful and intent on using our learning time well through the very last day of school. Teachers and students are preparing for the administration of final exams and/or final projects or performance tasks as we speak. The exam schedule is as follows:
Grades 5 & 6 are expected to give a "finals" experience in the form of a performance task, project, or test. The purpose is to prepare students for finals in grades 7 & 8 without the serious grade implications.
The grades 7 & 8 finals schedule is as follows:
- Friday, 5/17 - White Related Arts
- Monday, 5/20 - Red Related Arts
- Tuesday, 5/21 - Math
- Wednesday, 5/22 - ELA
- Thursday, 5/23 - SCI
- Friday, 5/24 - SS
No final exams are to be given early.
Please help us to continue to maintain a safe environment that is conducive to student learning and free from distraction. You can help us by monitoring your student's dress for modesty.
As well, remind students to use general good decision-making. We all know that the brain of a middle school student is not yet fully developed. With that, we also know that good decision-making can be challenging when social pressures are involved and the end of the school year is in sight. Who doesn't get excited about that? Consequences still exist even up to the last day of school and into the summer if need be. My hope is that students will choose actions that have positive consequences and not negative ones.
Thank you for your help, and as always, I am blessed to serve your students, this community, and you in the role of principal.

2019-2020 Online Registration is Open
Dear Returning DCSC Family,
We are thrilled to be able to offer you the opportunity to register your child for the 2019-2020 school year beginning May 1, 2019! We hope you will find this feature more convenient for you and your family to take care of registration details prior to the end-of-summer rush. Rest assured, even though registration will take place now, we will still hold traditional Back to School events prior to the school year as you have experienced in the past. (Incoming Kindergarten students that are new to the corporation this year are already in the system and do not have to register utilizing this method. Likewise, graduating seniors do not need to close anything out in Infinite Campus.)
This process is used to update and verify all information for our students, and to collect all of the necessary "paperwork" for sports, clubs, etc. At the end of the registration process, there is a page with yes/no buttons for these documents. Now that paper copies are no longer distributed, it is very important that you complete the registration.
In order to register your student for the upcoming school year, you will need a Parent Portal account. If you do not have a Parent Portal account, you will need to create one which will require an activation key. Please contact your child's school for instructions on how to obtain an activation key and directions for setting it up.
If you already have a Parent Portal account, please login to access the online registration. (If you have forgotten your password, please contact your child’s school and they will process requests in the order received.) You will see the Online Registration link in the sidebar. When you click to start your registration, all of your Household, Parent/Guardian and Emergency Contacts should pre-populate for you. You will have the opportunity to make changes if necessary. Walk through the steps to register your students and submit the application.
If you have any questions throughout the process, please reach out to your child’s school using the building level contact information on our website (noting summer office hours) or call the district office at 317-745-2212.
