School Counselor Scoop

Hello and Happy Friday everyone! February and now March continues to be a busy and exciting time for Westwood! In Guidance, we have celebrated Diversity in all grades-we have identified and celebrated our similarities and differences and increased our understanding and appreciation of one another! We have read wonderful books like One and I’m Like You, You’re Like Me and learned how our differences make us unique, interesting and fun! We now are reading All Are Welcome in grades K-2. We are making hearts and discussing how to be kind and include others through a wrinkled heart activity. We are also reinforcing the opportunity to make new friends when we welcome Newbury and Lindsey students and hope to soon begin an exciting Pen Pal activity!

In Grades 3-5 for this month, we are continuing our message of acceptance as we are reading Each Kindness and are talking about the importance of including others as we share and role play how we can include others at recess, lunch and in the classroom. Finally, we are also talking about the opportunity for all West G staff and students to welcome others to Westwood and Lindsey next year and are excited to not only exchange letters but plan for exciting open houses at both schools!

Thank you parents for all your support and hope to see many of you at the play this weekend!

Have a great weekend!

This is a reminder to all our family and friends who visit us during the school day: Please park only in designated, painted parking spots; please refrain from parking behind the school outside of the gym and next to the split rail fence as delivery trucks need access to the kitchen and maintanence area.
