Hy-Vee Cash 4 Students
During the week of April 20th-24th we will be having a friendly competition between 6th period classes. The current collection "year" for Hy-Vee receipts ends April 30, 2015. Receipts are valid if they are from a Cedar Rapids or Marion Hy-Vee Store or Gas Station. *Casey's gas station receipts, nor receipts from surrounding Hy-Vee Stores are valid for this program. Students are asked to scour their homes and turn in their receipts during their 6th period class.
For every $200 collected in receipts, Franklin receives $1. To date we have collected $129,000 in receipts for a total of $645. Last year we received a check from Hy-Vee for $1256.00 for the $251K in receipts we collected. The 6th period class to collect the most receipts during this week will receive a pizza party so start collecting!

Mr. Kelsey's Critters
The 8th graders are currently learning about Mendelian genetics in science class. Last week they put that knowledge to use making their own “critters” that were quite genetically diverse. Maddy Abu-Nameh was quoted as saying that “it’s so cute and can I take it home?” The students will also use the critters to understand how traits can be blended and share dominance as well.
8th Grade Celebration Party
An invitation will be going home with your student in May. The students will be asked to pay a small entrance fee with scholarships being available. The drinks and a snack will be provided by the Cedar Rapids Country Club but we are asking for cash donations from parents to help cover additional expenses. If you are able to provide a cash donation, it would be greatly appreciated. Any and all amounts are welcomed!! Checks should be made out to Franklin PTA and turned into the office by April 17th. Chaperones are also needed for the party.
