Message from the Principal
Dear Virginia Lake Families,
I hope you are enjoying your long weekend! A friendly reminder that we do not have school on Monday and Tuesday. We can’t wait to welcome everyone back on Wednesday.
We kindly request that moving forward, students do not bring in personal toys outside at recess. Many students have been bringing out toys at recess (pop-its, stuffed animals, squishies, etc.) These items should stay in the student's backpacks and not be brought outside. These items unfortunately are causing some concerns with sharing and some children have misplaced their treasures causing broken hearts. Students are more than welcome to play with the items during indoor recess. If items are sent to school, they need to remain in your child’s backpack.
Students may choose to bring their own personal sports equipment such as a soccer or kick ball, but we are not responsible if it gets lost or broken.
We have eliminated zones during recess. Based on new guidelines from the state, students do not have to remain in cohorts outside. The students were very excited about the announcement on Friday!
We are still taking donations of gently used Halloween costumes in the office. The Halloween Parade will take place on Friday, October 29th at 9:00 a.m. We will share a map of our route outside. Families are welcomed to watch the event. Classroom parties will occur in the afternoon. This year, we can not welcome in visitors. Thank you for your understanding!
Parent Teacher conferences are scheduled for Monday, November 22nd from 11:00-7:00 pm and Tuesday, November 23rd from 7:00-11:00 am. Teachers will send home reminders for parent teacher conferences. This year, we are offering an in-person or virtual option.
Let’s make it a great week!
With Kindest Regards,
Patti Van Winkle, Principal
