WHAT IS ROUTINE READY?
Routine Ready is a term we use at Victory to determine whether a skill is ready to be featured in a competitive routine. Our goal when selecting athletes for a tumbling section in the routine is to maximize our tumbling score. When making these decisions, we are looking for skills that are consistently executed with proper technique and form. Consistency at Victory means the athlete can successfully execute the skill 3 times in a row with excellent form. When evaluating proper technique and form, we consider the Varsity Score Sheet. The scoring rubric focuses on 4 specific areas: approach (beginning), body control (middle), landings (ending) and synchronization (timing and speed). Judges are looking for specific technique in each area and deduct points when form is not up to par. These key areas are outlined below:
Approach = Arm placement into a pass/skill, Swing/prep, Chest placement
Body Control = Head placement, Arm/shoulder placement, Hip placement, Leg placement (straight legs), Control from skill to skill in a pass, Pointed toes
Landings = Controlled, Chest up in the landing, Finished pass/skill
Synchronization = Proper Tempo, Speed, Timing
