Mrs. Collins 5th Grade News
May 30 - June 3
SLE of the Week
Through GRACE, a St. Basil Student is a Globally Minded Citizen who respects individuality and cultural diversity.
I'm sure many of you heard that Victoria's father, Miguel Evangelista, passed away suddenly on Friday evening. Fr. Ron will be coming to our class to speak with and pray with the 5th graders, as I am sure they will all be affected by this sudden loss in our community. We will update you all as information becomes available. I am going to try for some normalcy this week and have the religion test and vocabulary test as planned.
This is the last week for students to turn in missing assignments, and then the final grades will be finished by the end of this week! Junior High School is a whole new ballgame and I am truly excited to watch how your children grow and succeed!
Our Harry Potter end of the year party will be on Tuesday, June 7th, which is a MINIMUM day! The students have chosen costumes, but they MUST be home made (think attic, back of closet, thrift store stuff). Whoever has the most original and creative costume will win a prize. :)
Don't forget that every student will be required to complete some summer reading assignments. They are flexible in so far as the students can complete them through Google Classroom or using paper and pen. They *do* need to complete the assignments before Monday, August 15th. There are specific books and assignments to complete, so make sure you talk with your child about it, as this week they will receive the information. I will also be posting the assignments here on Beehively at the end of the week so that your child can always reference it if they loose the hard copy that they will receive.
Last but not least, there is a 6th Grade Science Camp meeting in the 6th grade classroom on Wednesday, June 1st from 3:15-3:45. Please attend, as there is a lot of information that you need to know now if your children are going to have a successful and fun time next year!
If there are any questions, please let me know! I have been truly blessed by you and your children and I am thoroughly excited about Junior High!
Paper Bags Needed!
Please send these with your child by Friday, June 3rd.
Thank You!
Also, a big thank you to anyone who bought a popsicle on Friday! The proceeds went to 'Quoad Vitam', the respect for life group on campus. The students have a lot of wonderful things planned for next year, and they are super excited about promoting the message of respecting each other's God-given dignity on campus!
