Supporting Our Students on the Bus

Courtney recently sent out a link to a sign-up genius for teachers to ride the bus in the afternoon with the students. We've done this in the past, and the students AND bus drivers love this. This is a great way for us to connect with our students while recognizing them for BLAST behavior on the bus. Our discipline data supports the need for doing this, so please consider signing up for a day or two on the link below. Thank you!!

Thank You

Thank you to our interview committee: Julie Kastor, Jamie Herridge, Connie Kubis, Veronica Sims, Gina Marlow, Roshunda Knight, Jane Balsam, and Courtney Nespeca. They volunteered a great deal of time for this important process. With over 140 applicants, the committee helped to interview ten amazing candidates and narrow it down to a "final four". It won't be long before I'll be able to share the name of our new assistant principal. Thank you to each of them for being a part of this very difficult process.

Thank you to all staff members who participated in Rocketfest. Many of you donated items to the baskets or gave your time volunteering at the actual event. A big shout out goes to the following staff members for being pied in the face: Jamie Herridge, Mia Tannous, Sarah Judson, Emily Gunn, Julie Kastor, Rita Healy, Laura Huffman, Nalani Rogers, Katherine Wallis, Abby Lowman, Stacey Webber, Karen Russi, Randa Gross, Laura Green, Gina Marlow, Emerson Wolfe, Angela Lemos, Jane Balsam, Connie Kubis, Kelly Oetken, Dawn Henning, and Courtney Nespeca. John Edmun came back to volunteer as well. I must say I enjoyed this event as well--both being pied in the face and having fun to pie a couple of co-workers.

Staff Preference Sheets

Once I receive staffing allocations, I will send out staff preference sheets where you will be able to indicate your grade level/subject(s) preferences for next year. Your input will be considered when making assignments for next year. If you are planning to retire, resign, or transfer, this is a great time to make that known as well.

In Case You Missed It...

This video will make your heart melt!

GEM Grants

Thank you to everyone who expressed their interest in the GEM grant. The application deadline is April 9. If I can be of assistance in any way, please let me know!

Professional Development Opportunities

Are you interested in growing your knowledge in the area of technology and teaching strategies? This summer, our cluster is looking to hold an EduConference at one of our campuses to provide you the opportunity to collaborate with fellow teachers. If you are interested in sharing your knowledge on a technology-related topic, please let me know.

Some of you are familiar with Seesaw, the app that teachers can use to digitally store student work. Here is a link to the app if you are not familiar: https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/seesaw-the-learning-journal/id930565184?mt=8

If you haven't considered being a Seesaw ambassador, check this out: https://app.seesaw.me/#/ambassadors/apply

Being an ambassador allows you to use the premium features for free and affords you the opportunity to collaborate with other ambassadors.

Newest Twitter Challenge (Not Really New--Just Continued)

Whether you've earned a #winner t-shirt or not, participating in Twitter chats is a great way to get free professional development. If you have not earned a #winner shirt yet, participate in one chat this week and come by and share what you've learned. First come, first served on winning a t-shirt.

Here is a link to information on chats:

CFISD offers twitter chats as well. Mondays at 7:30 pm, you can jump in and join the @CFISDchat, which is specifically designed for CFISD teachers.
