Included in this newsletter you will find information that we discussed with students during the expectations class meetings along with more detailed information about PSAT, ACT/SAT after school prep sessions along with our upcoming parent night next week.
Attendance/ Tardies
•Allowed 5 days- Please bring in doctor notes
•No make-up time
•Waivers will only be granted for extenuating circumstances
•4 minutes between classes

Dress Code
•Shirts must have sleeves – no tank tops, tube tops, spaghetti straps
•Pants around the waist and no holes above the knee
•No undergarments showing, no cleavage showing
•No more than 5 inches above bend of knee for shorts, skirts, dresses

Must pay school fees before a parking pass will be issued.
Parking Pass: $25 for the year or $12.50 for the semester
PSAT- 10th & 11th Graders
Junior & Senior Parent Survival Night -Save the Date for Thursday, September 25th
Please join the Counselors along with a representative from Campbell University, UNC-Greensboro & Randolph Community College. A wide array of hot topics will be addressed including financial aid, CFNC, admissions, scholarship information, deadlines, and graduation to name a few. A variety of door prizes will be awarded to some of our lucky guests! We look forward to seeing everyone!!
ASVAB
The ASVAB career exploration test will be given on our campus Wednesday, October 8th during 1st and 2nd blocks free of charge. Any junior or senior interested needs to sign up in the counselors’ office by September 25th. The ASVAB can help you choose the right career that matches your interests AND is good practice for the SAT and ACT.
SAT Prep Sessions To Be Offered
SPORTS- COME OUT & SUPPORT COUGAR ATHLETICS
Congratulations to our Varsity football team on an outstanding win against Parkland HS last night.
The Varsity Volleyball team defeated Southern Guilford in three games with scores of 25-14, 25-13, 25-6. Anna Laton had 8 kills and 2 blocks, Karsyn Small had 6 kills, Amber Clapp had 5 kills and 12 digs, and Jordan Perry had 6 digs and 5 aces. The Cougars are now 10-3 overall and 6-1 in conference. They play Providence Grove away on Monday.
In JV, the Cougars defeated the Storm in two games with scores of 25-15, 25-15. Madison Kuehl had 7 kills and 10 digs, Kendra Davis had 3 aces and 4 kills, and Delana Freeman had 10 assists and 4 digs. The JV are now 10-2 overall and 6-1 in conference.
Southwestern Randolph will be hosting a Dig Pink match vs. Asheboro High School on Tuesday, September 30. This will also be youth night where all youth volleyball players get in free of admission as long as they have on their league jersey. All proceeds from fundraisers will go to The SideOut Foundation for breast cancer research.
The Booster Club is sponsoring a TAILGATING PARTY on Friday, Oct. 3 before the SWR Cougars meet up with the Blue Comets of Asheboro. SAKS Diner will be catering the event and will be serving Chopped Pork BBQ, slaw, baked beans, roll and can drink. Tickets are $8.00 if purchased before Sept. 26 and can be purchased in the main office. Tickets that are sold the night of the event will be $10.00. Come out and enjoy a night of food, games of corn hole and fellowship and cheer the Cougars on.
Clubs
Aim club meeting is scheduled for next Thursday.
There will be a FTA meeting Wednesday, Sept. 24 at 3:10 in Mr. Soja’s room. Anyone wishing to join must be in attendance. If you are unable to come, please see Mr. Soja.
All Interact officers and club members need to report to Mrs. McKee's room to sign up for the Big Sweep. Volunteers are needed at Lake Lucas from 10-12 on Saturday, Sept 27th.
Are you interested in going on a 10-day trip to Costa Rica during the summer of 2016? Enjoy the exotic scenery of Costa Rica as we kayak by an active volcano, zip-line through the rain forest, white water raft, and take a crocodile boat ride to the Pacific Ocean. A parent meeting will be held TONIGHT at 6:00 in the media center. If you are not able to attend, please see Mr. Schuyler for more information.
Announcements & Information
Please remind your student to listen to the school announcements which are announced at 8:00 every morning and at the beginning of 4th block. Written announcements are also read during 2nd block.
