Nostra Aetate 50 Years Later . . .
Looking back & looking forward at Jewish - Catholic dialogue
Fifty years ago, the Catholic Church published a document called Nostra Aetate (“In our time”), which spoke in new ways about the Catholic Church’s relationship to non-Christian religions. This document of the Second Vatican Council was prompted by the important events of that time, when the world was coming to grips with the reality of the Holocaust and the increased interaction between people of different faiths.
In celebrating the 50th anniversary of Nostra Aetate, the Nazareth Religious Studies Department and the Center for Spirituality invite you to a “Lunch and Learn” discussion looking at the history of this groundbreaking document and its profound impact on Catholic-Jewish relations. The Lunch and Learn will take place on Tuesday, November 3 at 12:10PM in GAC 151. All are welcome; please RSVP below.
Our discussion will be facilitated by Dr. Susan Nowak, Chair of the Religious Studies Department, and Cantor Samuel Asher, of Nazareth Hillel.
