News from 3rd Grade
Ms. Doerr's Room
Greetings from 3rd Grade
Wow! I can't believe the first semester is winding down so quickly! We are working hard to finish up our nonfiction reading and writing units of study before break. The kids have learned so much about reading a passage and using testing strategies to help them comprehend. We have learned to read our questions first and look for key words. That way, as we read, and come upon these key words, our brains will be alerted. When we answer questions, we eliminate answers that don't make sense. We also find text evidence to prove our answers.
E-learning Day on January 7th!
After all of the hassle of our practice e-learning day, 3rd grade has made some adjustments. Today, I sent home a "Choice Board" to use for the upcoming e-learning day and any that might follow. The students should select one learning activity from each column to complete. Some of the tasks can be submitted on Seesaw. However, many are simply paper and pencil activities to submit the next day in class. I hope this creates less stress! All assignments should be completed and turned in electronically or by hand on Tuesday, January 8th.
Winter Party
Friday is our Winter Party from 2:40ish-dismissal. We do not have any volunteers to help with the party at this time. If you have a level 3 background check and want to come party, please email me. If you aren't able to join, but wanted to send a little fun treat or trinket, please let me know too.
Month of Caring Gift Exchange
Friday is also our gift exchange in the classroom. We plan on playing a fun "White Elephant" style game with the exchange. As a reminder, your child should bring a wrapped gift, $5 or less that any third grader would enjoy. If your family is unable to shop for a gift, please let me know by Thursday evening so I can bring extras.
Coming Up!
Our class will be taking the winter round of NWEA testing Wednesday and Thursday after break from 9:00-10:30ish on both days. Please make sure your child has a healthy breakfast before testing.

Classroom store items needed!
Our classroom store will be opening the last day before Winter Break. The kids have A LOT of money to spend. Most of them saved a great deal of their money from quarter one to use on bigger items this time. Impressive, right? Therefore, I am begging for donations. If you are able to contribute any winter crafts, stuffed animals, candy, toys, or other items desired by 3rd graders, please help. Thank you so much!
