A Framework for the Achievement of ALL Students
Join us for an exciting professional development opportunity!
Wanting to create learning environments that encourage and support the participation and achievement of each student in a highly diverse population of learners? Thinking UDL might be the answer? Wondering what UDL is all about... where it came from…if it really applies to ALL of the students you are responsible for and care about across the full range of learner variability… how UDL “fits” with the other things you do...and, what resources and tools are “out there” to help you?
If so, this session is for you!

UCF, Morgridge International Reading Center, Bldg 122, Orlando, FL 32816
Information on this event:
Universal Design for Learning (UDL) provides educators with a framework for proactively planning, designing and implementing a flexible curriculum that maintains high expectations for all students while lowering unintentional barriers to participation and achievement. After a brief introduction to the foundations and background of UDL, participants will explore CAST’s principles of UDL—multiple representations of information, multiple means of expression and action, and multiple means of engagement—and delve deeply into the ways in which goals, methods, assessment and materials aligned to those principles can build upon the strengths of all learners while providing the supports they need to become expert, lifelong learners.
Participants will:
- Explore the UDL Guidelines and apply them to goals, assessment, methods and materials
- Experience readily available online tools tools designed according to UDL principles
- Examine role of instructional and assistive technologies in the UDL Framework
- Engage in discussion and activities that illuminate ways that which UDL applies to their own settings
- Discuss how UDL serves as a firm foundation upon which more intensive supports can be provided to students who need them, including, for some, special education supports and services
- Identify actions at all levels of the organization that facilitate the development of UDL practices
- Prioritize actions that can be taken immediately
