Vist from Vernal - Showcasing Sunset
They plan on being here at Sunset at 7:15 to observe an actual RtI meeting! Not only is this an honor of your hard work but also a chance to build networks that we can begin to build to support our work with children! I am excited to share out our processes and pick their brains to continue building! I will keep you posted as to what they are expecting and who I will be calling on to help share out!
Thank you ahead of time - I am so proud of you and excited to show you off! Continue your hard work - people will notice, but most importantly - our students are learning!!!
Literacy Carnival
Where: Sunset Elementary
Why: To kick off Summer Reading
Theme: Camping and the Outdoors
The literacy carnival is going to have a new spin this year as we "kick off the summer with literacy". This year we hope to be joined by Rotary, the library, division of wildlife, the Book Mobile and more! We need to provide 2 games or activities with this new theme. Would anyone like to volunteer to lend something they already have or create a station? There are lots of ideas on Pintrest.
Thanks for all your help!
Please work with Amy Jones in helping to support this! Thanks for those who have already reached out! Just another classic example of a team coming together to support our community!
THANK YOU...
Few Reminders...
Please remind your students to remove their hats when in the building! Gently remind them to not wear them in the cafeteria!
Please remember that our conversations in the hallways carry - so be mindful of where and what you are conversing about! We should probably take conversations into a nearby room - that way we are adhering to quiet hallway behavior!
DLI: Please be sure we are doing these daily - as each year builds on the year before - therefore follow thru is imperative.
Bulldog Notebooks: Please be sure to continue using this method of conversations - as this was a school wide decision - therefore, parents are watching for these (most parents). It is our safety net for several reasons! (I can explain more if I have confused you!) This form of communication rated extremely high on our Parent survey! I think there may be pockets not holding our students accountable - please be sure to uphold this school-wide decision. If you have questions, come see me and let's brainstorm! More conversation to come from the PACE Setters - but until then continue using!

Notes from PACE Setters Meeting:
Agenda Items:
1. Moby Max, Prodigy, ….other?
2. Update on Schedule
3. After School Program/Chess Club
4. Next Steps: Intervention/Reading
Blocks, 2:55 time frame, Bulldog Notebooks (Analyze)
5. Parents in the building discussion
Discussion Points/Next Steps:
1. We have decided that we need something but willing to collect ideas. We also discussed not wanting to add anything new to our plates. I have talked with a Moby Max representative about the newest features of Moby Max and the cost.
2. Current schedule that fits the boundaries and staffing allowed by the district + your feedback from last weeks discussion (putting in 2nd Step/Library/Makerspace in during the day you don't have PE/Music to continue with common plan time AND Art Tuesday/Thursdays for 50 min. We are getting close to sharing out the newest schedule. Stay tuned!
3. Did not get around to discuss....
4. So, as we (Melany) were building our schedule for next year - we really focused on our BIG ROCKS (Literature Blocks, Writing Block) but then I started second guessing myself, therefore, I brought these items to the table at our meeting to discuss these BIG ROCKs - making sure they are still the Important with the addition of a discussion around Fluency and DEAR time at the end of the day and the use of the Bulldog Notebooks! We will share out our thinking so that we can ensure we are all on the same page in regards to our Big Rocks going into next year - making sure we are all holding ourselves accountable as well as our students and families!
Please come see me or a PACE Setter member with any questions in regards to the above topics!
