Spotlight: 7th Grade Greek Week
This week the 7th grade Social Studies classes combined for a historical simulation called Greek Week led by Mr. Larew and Mrs. Feliciani.
Throughout the simulation each city state (small groups of students) participated in a variety of Greek inspired competitions in order to obtain the gold medal prize. Events included long jump, javelin throw, a strength test, trivia, and temple building. It was an exciting and enjoyable experiential exercise for our students!

Spotlight: 9th Grade Romeo & Juliet
Mrs. LaLa’s Freshman English class just finished a beautiful in-class rendition of Act I of William Shakespeare’s Romeo & Juliet! The streets of Verona in room 507 have never before been filled with such talent. Next week, the show will go on as we begin Act II, so stay tuned for more photos.

Guidance Resources
Guidance "Sparks": Smart Futures
Bringing career education and development to our middle school students is one of the primary goals of the district’s K-12 Guidance Plan and of these Sparks articles. Beginning in October, students in Central Bucks will take a new path toward this by the introduction of Smart Futures in the middle schools. Smart Futures is an online career development platform which focuses on grade-specific activities for students and manages the outcomes of the activities in an electronic portfolio which meets the required PA Career Readiness Standards. This replaces Naviance for the middle grades. We introduced Smart Futures this past spring to our elementary students, so the current 7th graders are already familiar with this program. The activities the students will complete this year will surpass the minimum State requirement and help them build a self-directed career “Game Plan”.
SF allows students to discover what they like to do, learn about careers they might want to investigate and how to pursue those careers. It even helps them to develop a budget. To learn more about SF, watch this short video and you can always ask your child to log onto SF to see what they are learning.

Safe2Say
Safe2Say is a valuable resource that has been set up by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania to provide a method for anyone to report a concern about a student or group of students 24/7. Please note some important reminders about the use of Safe2Say:
- If you put in a tip, please check back often for communications. The tip line is monitored 24/7 at the state level. The tip is sent to the school and/or police if it is deemed "Life Safety" immediately. It is sent in the morning if it is determined to be "Non-Life Safety."
- It is important to include as much information as possible. If you have evidence of your concerns, please share that evidence via the tip or with us. You can attach pictures and videos in the Safe2Say system.
Please remember that Safe2Say is statewide system that is used in collaboration with the State Attorney's Office, emergency responders, and school officials. It is important to know that tips are reviewed on the state level before being passed to the local police and/or school authorities. Please consider the purpose of your tip - Is it to provide another person with a way to receive help? Is it preventing an act of violence? Is it something that needs to involve local and state authorities? While the system is anonymous, abuse of the system will not be tolerated and actions will be taken if it is determined that the system is being used inappropriately.
