Advancing in Academia
finding a place among the faculty
Are you interested in becoming an academic scientist or educator? Join us for this Preparing Future Innovators seminar to learn more about diverse kinds of faculty positions and the best ways to prepare for them.
This session will be valuable to you if you want to know about:
- the diversity of academic positions available, and what the differences are;
- application and interview processes for faculty positions;
- what someone should ask for in a startup package; and
- how to develop a teaching philosophy.
All of this and more will be covered by our speakers, Profs. John Chaput and Greg Springsteen.
John Chaput
John Chaput is a Professor in Pharmaceutical Sciences at UC Irvine. Students in the Chaput laboratory are working to develop artificial polymers that mimic the functional properties of natural biopolymers.
