NEW INFORMATION
PIT Day week is here! The workday will be 12-8 and lunch will be provided in the lounge for you all. Please review the email sent by Ms. Hill to schedule your students, keeping in mind the scheduling of siblings. Thank you to those that are already jumping on this!
We will be selling our T-shirts on PIT Day. Order forms will be provided to each classroom teacher. When parents come in to conference with you, make them aware they can purchase the shirts.
Mini observations are complete! I appreciate the conversation we have had so far about them. Keep in mind...the goal is a growth mindset and our evaluations are designed to be a growth tool. We all have areas we can improve upon...I know I have plenty!!! Observation/Goal Setting conferences should be complete by next Friday.
That means the next observation will be a long. These will run approximately 20 mins in length and will occur during TDR or TD Math time. These will be completed by October 26th. Conferences will be held at their conclusion.
I am going to put a hold on the PRIDE Store until second quarter. It has not been implemented to the level I expect and this is on me. We will be looking to revamp it and the items for grand re-opening upon the return from break. Information about the PRIDE Bash is forthcoming.
Our volleyball team is away this Tuesday, as we play Anna Brochausen 88.
Schedule update- we are noticing that we are being very efficient during dismissal. Therefore, we are going to make an adjustment to dismissal times:
- All Car Riders/Walkers- 3:50 pm
- K-3 Bus Riders- 3:55 pm
- 4-6 Bus Riders- 4:00 pm
To is to ensue we are not blocking English Ave traffic any longer than necessary.
REPEAT INFORMATION
Lesson Plan link for the week is below. Click on it and drop in lesson plans. Reminder- you can use the lesson plan template that works for you. Components required include:
- Standard- Identifier is fine, don't need to write it out
- Skill being taught- explicit through the I CAN statement
- Gradual Release- how are you modeling, practicing, and releasing for collaborative/independent practice
- Checks for Understanding- how are you checking every step of the way to ensure students are "getting it"?
The Staff Handbook is still attached below. You are expected to know the information in the handbook. Please make sure you review it carefully. I cannot stress the importance of this, particularly the CPS Reporting Protocols. When in doubt, REPORT!!!
You should have received an email from SafeSchools outlining the training you need to complete this school year. Due date for all trainings is Oct. 1.
Heavy Lifting!
Continued updates on our BIG ROCKS below:
- PBIS- Additional PRIDE Cards will be here soon. You all went through 10,000 of them prior to the end of the first quarter!!!! This is GREAT work. Continue to push expectations for behavior and be consistent. This is the time of year that we begin to get tired and our patience level may get lower. It is extremely important to continue to focus more on the positive than the negative.
- MTSS- Our PD plan continues! As we continue to focus on Tier 1 instruction, our PLC's will reflect this. Tuesday will be PLC and focus on the following week's instructional planning around the text and tasks students will complete. Wednesday will be a day for you to complete planning for ELA. This means Math PLC's will be on Thursday's now, with a focus on the interpretation of the standard and what we need to teach. Friday can be used to complete this planning. Continue bringing the materials needed for the following week's instruction.
- Growth Mindset- we are 7 weeks into the school year. How is the growth mindset work we have done so far impacted how you look at your students? Yourself as an educator? We MUST open ourselves to believe anyone can grow from where they are today. Read Ch. 3- My Brain is Like a Muscle that Grows. Be prepared to discuss at our next staff meeting.
