Reentry Planning Meetings
The Chequamegon North Reentry has worked feverishly to develop a reentry plan for the Chequamegon Middle School and the Glidden Elementary School. Although there may be some things that may come to light over the next few weeks that need to be "worked out", we feel confident that we have a solid, practical, and safe plan to adapt to the changing scenarios that we may experience during the 2020-2021 school year! Our ultimate goal is to keep safety and learning as our priority while adapting and meeting the needs of all of our students. I want to thank the administrative team for their amazing teamwork during this planning time as well as the Chequamegon North Reentry Team who rose to amazing heights to figure things out and make it work! The team consisted of Michelle Hanson, Lori Deitz, Stephanie Ernst, Kayla Schutte, Kristen Kirch, and Sarah Kronberger-Graceffa. Thank you!

Bloodmobile
Chequamegon North housed a Red Cross Bloodmobile on Tuesday, July 21st organized by the Glidden Lions Club. The Red Cross is grateful to organizations that are willing to keep the blood drives going during this unique time as there is a high need for blood. Masks, social distancing, sanitizing procedures, temperature checks, and appointments were used in order to keep all involved safe!
EL Education Work Days
July has been a time of great learning on the "school during a pandemic" front, but it has been even busier for the Chequamegon Middle School English Language Arts teachers as they spent a week diving into the EL ELA Curriculum Second Edition for grades 6-8. This edition of the curriculum was just released late this summer, so shared resources and tips and tricks are limited at this time making their planning particularly difficult. Their hard work, expertise, and perseverance will certainly pay off regardless of the scenario in which we conduct learning this coming school year. EL is based on the Dimensions of Student Achievement including Mastery of Knowlege and Skills, Character, and High-Quality Student Work. All instruction uses trade books (novels) for achieving these goals! The curriculum is also strong in a variety of other content areas such as Social Studies and Science, allowing the opportunity for combining projects or learning goals with other subjects. Thank you Sharlene Gelina (Grade 8), Breanna Hanson (Grade 7), and Ann Kief (Grade 6) for all of the hard work you have done thus far and the continued hard work as you persevere during this school year! The team was lead with professional development from Julie Jensen, CESA 12 Reading Specialist, with contribution from Breanna Hanson who attended the "EL Starting Strong" Conference earlier this summer.
Thank You!
A big thank you to the Killinger family who has donated $1,500 to the Chequamegon Middle School Industrial Arts Department. The donation was presented in honor of Jerry Killinger who was a former student and industrial arts educator with the Glidden School District. Thank you to the Killinger family and their generosity!
