In-House Positions: Education Specialist
Classroom Expectations
In order to help children in our program understand classroom expectations, you will need to create a classroom management system. Dependent upon your State’s guidelines you will have a “rule board” or an “I will try my best board” to establish clear guidelines and expectations. The Infant Program is not included in this system. Please utilize the backs of toy shelves, cabinets or doors to display at the children’s eye level and refer back to them often to reinforce the expectations with the children.
Toddler Young Preschool, Preschool, Pre-K Academy and Varsity Club classrooms are required to have classroom expectations.
- Have clear established expectations for the children in your room
- Allow children to help create the classroom rules
- Make them short and limit the rule to no more than 5 rules
- Use positive terminology
- Use white sentence strips to post classroom rules at the child's eye level
- Pictures of the children in your classroom following the rules should be posted next to each rule
- Classroom rules must be clearly printed with no grammatical errors and clear penmanship
Suggested Classroom Rules
- Keep your friends safe
- Keep yourself safe
- Keep the materials in our class safe
For more information on classroom rules see The Learning Environment Standards pg. 12.

Rasmussen College
Rasmussen College has rolled out a new ECE Bachelors degree; Child Development Specialization! ECE Leadership is offered through Rasmussen as well.
As a student specializing in the Child Development track of the Early Childhood Education Leadership Bachelor's degree, you will go beyond the basics of child development in key sections of the degree to understand more deeply how and why children learn and develop the way they do. The program builds on your education and experience with young learners, adding new skills for leadership and instruction that prepare you to work in a variety of early childhood settings. You will also learn how to run a program, develop curriculum and lead other teachers, while maintaining best practices working with young learners from infancy through preschool.
Graduates of the Child Development specialization will also gain skills for evaluating their impact on the growth and development of children while establishing leadership expertise in coaching and mentoring, communicating with families, and advocating for public policies that affect early childhood learners. Through a combination of case studies, virtual observations, peer-to-peer discussions and virtual role-playing, you will practice implementing child development theory, teaching practices and leadership that will set you apart in the field.

Rasmussen College Testimonial
I enjoyed Rasmussen college, I was able to work full time, as well as attend Rasmussen full time. The staff and technical support team respond right away and are very helpful, the tech line is manned 24/7. I loved being able to work on my classes and homework after my children were in bed for the night, and they offered webinars and lectures at various days and times in order to accommodate each student. Students are able to look online to see their grades as well as the instructors comments. There is a digital library also included with your tuition so you are able to access everything you may need, the course books are also digital so you can print what you need or just read them online. The courses and syllabus are laid out for you, as well as when each assignment is due and when each webinar is offered, and so easy to maneuver through. If I chose to go back to school again, I would definitely go back to Rasmussen.
