3rd Annual First Responder's Night Raises Over $2100 For Backstoppers
In just it's third year of existence the Howell First Responder's Night has quickly become a fan and community favorite. On Friday night the Howell community hosted the Third Annual First Responders Night. Viking fans came out in full force to recognize First Responders and military personnel. Lines began forming for the game at 5:00 p.m. just outside the stadium. Over 4,000 fans and community members came out to see the Vikings earn a 45-7 win over Troy to move to 3-1 on the season.
The night's events included several great opportunities for fans to remember and celebrate those that do so much for our community and country. The night started with area First Responder's on campus to display vehicles and to speak with fans. Prior to the game current and retired first responders and military personnel were honored. In the stands an over 100 foot long flag was created by fans wearing red, white and blue t-shirts courtesy of the Howell Student Council. One of the highlights of the night was the flyover and game ball delivery by Metro Air Support.
At halftime, a remarkable "Dash For Cash" led by Howell Cheerleaders, the Golden Girls, freshmen football players and Troy Cheerleaders raised $2,201 in just 90 seconds. Over the course of the past three years a total of $6600 has been raised through the Howell First Responders's Night that has been donated to Backtstoppers.
The evening is just another example of the commitment of Howell and it's activities programs to recognize and provide outreach into our community. At Francis Howell, "Nobody Rides This Ship, We All Row" to make our programs and our community great.
