Transportation and traffic
I hesitated to talk about traffic and buses going into a restful weekend, but we do need your help. Our front office staff is always happy to help, but they have no control over the bus schedule or the length of the car pool line.
Please - be kind when calling the school. If you need to complain about an issue, continue to be kind while our support staff finds the right person to help. We are lucky to have so much support from our Taylor Road community! And we are lucky to have the great support staff that we do!
PBIS values: Be responsible -- Be respectful - Be proactive
This week's learning: I am stealing from my boss, Area Superintendent Tim Corrigan. He sent this to principals this week:
I was reminded this week on the power of investment and compounding interest. I am not talking about financial investments or financial compounding interest. I am talking about the personal investments we make in others. As a teacher - the investments we make in our students and colleagues. As leaders - the investments we make in our community, staff, and students. The earlier we invest - the greater the long-term benefit to those in whom we invest.
"The single most common factor for children who develop resilience is at least one stable and committed relationship with a supportive parent, caregiver, or other adult." - Harvard University Center on the Developing Child
I think we have all heard a variation of this statement, but it is more important now than any other time in history. The statistics are very scary - 9 in 10 addicts stated that their drug/alcohol use started before the age of 18; 1.2 million teens dropped out of school last year; suicide is the 2nd leading cause of death for 15-24 year old. We are in this long stretch leading up to spring break, and we know is usually very stressful for staff and students. Let us all commit to finding time - finding a special way to thank the adults in your building for deciding to invest and dedicate their lives to our students...our future.
"The difference between a statistic and a success story is you." - Josh Shipp

Backpacks of Love
At TRMS we have a program called “backpacks of love”. The purpose of this program is to provide assistance by donating non-perishable items to our families. The participants’ names are known only to the counselors and social worker. Once every two weeks a backpack with food items are available to go home. A student can carry the backpack home, or the parent can pick it up at the front office. All we need to know is if you would like to participate, how many adults are in the house, how many children are in the house, and if there are any dietary allergies such as peanut butter. We can only provide for a certain number of families so the sooner you reply the better. We will respond regardless of whether you are in the program or if supplies run out.
6th grade Counselor- Mr. Fredric Johnson
7th grade Counselor- Mrs. Alexcia Massey
8th grade Counselor- Mrs. Cindy Sabula
