Words from the Woods
Back to school 2018
Welcome, families!
Students will receive locker assignments, schedules, advisors, and class information.
This is also a great moment to meet our teachers and high schoolers. We will welcome new families in every grade level!
We look forward to seeing you.
Class schedules
Changes can be requested via this link and will be accommodated as possible.
All changes must be finalized by September 7.
Seniors wishing to take an online course must contact Ms. Berg directly to arrange individually.
School supplies
Students will need general school supplies, including pens, notebooks, and binders. For classes that require specific items, please see this list:
Please feel free to donate classroom supplies like cleaning wipes, tissues, dry-erase markers, hand sanitizer, or other sundries.
ALL high school students must use a planner! Students in grades 9 and 10 must have actual day planners, not just digital tools.
Students in Health & Physical Education will need running shoes and gym attire for daily use.
Does my student need a laptop?
Woods students have access to technology, internet, and online resources at school, and often need to use collaboration platforms, word processors, multimedia texts, email, databases, online classroom spaces, and other digital tools in their academic work.
Please let the advisor or teachers know if you cannot provide your own device so we can find a workable solution.
Does it have to be a certain kind of computer?
No. Chromebooks, tablets, PCs or Macs all work fine. The main needs are internet access and a keyboard.
Attendance and timeliness
School is like a participation sport--you have to be there! Regular attendance is key to success, as well as required by state law. Please review school policy concerning attendance and timeliness in the Woods Charter School Handbook.
The school day operates on a specific schedule and each minute counts! Please make every effort to ensure that your child is present and timely.
Excessive tardies will result in detention. Excessive absences may result in loss of academic credit.
Planning on the August SAT?
Community Work Day
Come on out and be productive! All help welcome. It's a great opportunity to hang out with other Woods folks, get a backstage look at school, and share some of your time with our school. High school students can earn hours towards their community service requirement. Tasks of all kinds, inside and out.
