Cheese Sale
It’s time for our Chanukah Cheese Sale featuring this time Italian Cheeses from the great Kosher Dairy restaurant, Yotvata, located in the Jewish Ghetto of Rome. Click here for the list of cheeses (including some I have never heard of) that are available. If you would like to order, please send a deposit of $20 to me, Joel Kessler, 1472 Hampstead Rd., Wynnewood, PA 19096. For more information please email me at jkessler48@comcast.net
Please note:
1] Prices until “Gran Padano” are in Euros per Kilogram. The first three listings for Gran Padano are for chunks and the price is in Euros per kilogram. Afterwards, except for the 1.5 kg. size of ricotta and the Gorgonzola, all cheese prices are per package.
2] Gran Padano cheese is the equivalent of Parmigiana. In Italy you can only call it Parmigiana if it comes from a certain particular region.
3] Each package is vacuum sealed. We will not be cutting into the packages or cutting the cheese into smaller quantities. There are approximately 450 grams in a pound so please order appropriately.
4] Prices are in Euros per Kilogram. To get the approximate price in dollar per pound, divide by 2.
5] This does not include shipping. Shipping will be determined once the full order is in.
6] Deadline for ordering is November 20th.
Spiritual Leader Search
We are excited to share with you the next phase in our Spiritual Leader search.
Sha’arei Orah will be hosting two candidates for Shabbat so that our community can meet and get to know each candidate and so the candidates can get to know us as a community. Below are the candidates and the dates they will be with our kehillah:
Rabbi Amir Zinkow: December 1-2
Rabbanit Leah Sarna: December 8-9
Activities during each candidate Shabbat will include:
Friday night Tisch: 8 PM, location TBD
Shabbat day D’var Torah between Torah Service and Mussaf
Shabbat Shiur (to take place after Kiddush)
Motzei Shabbat Q&A: 8 PM location TBD
Note: Questions will be solicited and submitted in advance to the Search Committee. This will not be an open forum for the community to ask questions from the audience.
Prior to each candidate Shabbat, we will send out a bio of the candidate, the finalized schedule of the Shabbat activities, and an opportunity to submit questions to be asked at the Motzei Shabbat Q&A. Following each candidate Shabbat, there will be a survey sent out to the community to solicit feedback regarding each candidate.
This is an exciting time for our community and we look forward to welcoming Rabbi Zinkow and Rabbanit Sarna to Sha’arei Orah.

Discretionary Fund
We are pleased to let you know that Sha'arei Orah, as a result of the efforts of the Jewish Federation of Greater Philadelphia, now has a modest emergency fund to help relieve financial distress caused by COVID-19. The Jewish Federation of Greater Philadelphia is leading many Emergency Response efforts for our community. They generously created a grant to our shul's Discretionary Fund to support those of us in need. Additional information about the Fund can be found here.
These funds are intended to help those in need of food, medical assistance, rent/mortgage payments and/or medical expenses. If you are in need of assistance, or have any questions, please reach out to Susie Ratner and we will work to help as much as we are able. Your conversations will remain in the strictest of confidence.
May we all have a year of health, happiness, and prosperity.
