Superintendent's Message
Dear JUHSD Community,
I hope this message finds you well. As mentioned in a letter I sent this past Tuesday, the District shares our deepest condolences to the communities of Half Moon Bay and Monterey Park in Los Angeles County as they experienced tragic mass shooting events. Our hearts break, yet again, that violence, fear and hate continue to take human lives.
As a school district, we are especially concerned about the impact on students and staff who have been exposed to more unprovoked and shocking violence. Our young people need our support as they process the unfolding details of this event, address their own fears, and try to move forward. Please check in on your children, family, and friends. Offer support and seek help when needed and be sure to access the care and nurturing you need.
Wellness contacts can be found here and supportive resources from the JUHSD Wellness Team and other organizations can be found here.
Thank you to our staff for their ongoing support of our students and thanks to all for joining us in ensuring peaceful and safe schools and communities. Have a restful weekend and know that my door is always open.
Warmly,
Toni Presta
Superintendent

Honoring Black History Month
The Black History Month 2023 theme, Black Resistance, is "a call to everyone, inside and outside the academy, to study the history of Black Americans’ responses to establish safe spaces, where Black life can be sustained, fortified, and respected."
