Meet CTC
Maliheh Shaban Tameh was born and raised in Tehran, Iran, which is the capital of the country. She earned a bachelor’s degree in solid state physics from Tarbiat Moallem University, located in her hometown. Afterward, she obtained a master degree in physics at Shahid Beheshti University, also in Tehran. Maliheh earned her Ph.D. in Computational Science from the Department of Scientific Computing at Florida State University.
After earning her Ph.D., Maliheh joined the Goodpaster group as a postdoc. She stayed in this role until January 2021, when she joined Professor Ess’s group as a postdoctoral fellow in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at Brigham Young University. While in the Goodpaster group, her research focused on the electronic structure study of transparent conducting oxides (TCOs), which are often used in solar cells and have both transparent and conducting properties. Opportunities
Postdoctoral Fellow, Computational Biophysics at Iowa State University
The Potoyan Group at Iowa State University has one immediate opening for a postdoctoral fellow to work on an NIH-funded research project at the interface of computational statistical physics, biophysics, and machine learning. The group is looking for a newly-graduated Ph.D. in any area of physics, applied math, chemistry, or engineering with quantitative modeling skills and experience in scientific computing. The start date is negotiable and the pay scale is determined by NIH. For additional details and to schedule a video chat, please forward your CV and research statement to potoyan@iastate.edu.
The Institute for Broadening Participation's mission is to increase diversity in the Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) workforce. The organization has shared several resources for prospective and current STEM postdocs, including a searchable database with funding opportunities and links to faculty positions available. Students who would like additional assistance finding funding can email Liv Detrick (ldetrick@ibparticipation.org) with their disciplinary interests.
