CONCESSIONS - WE NEED YOU

For anyone new to the band program, we have an arrangement with New Pal Athletics where we take turns splitting up the concession duties (and profits!) for each school year. It is our turn to staff the concessions stands for the winter sports.

We provide wrapped candy, bottled soda, pretzels, nachos, hot dogs and other odds and ends. These are simple shifts - but there are several shifts to fill.

Each shift worked earns $10 towards your student account!

** URGENT ** In addition to needing shift workers, we are also needing to find a leadership team to help lead the concessions. It's simply too much work for 1 or 2 persons, so we are looking for 6 leaders to share the load. (Did I mention there is a Student Account BONUS for these leaders?.. no?.. well there is)

What does it take to be a concessions leader? Not much!

Open the stand.. Handle the set up.. Explain how to make pretzels and other stuff.. Help clean up.. Close up. If you're able to help, we'd be happy to tell you more! Please reach out to the concessions coordinator, and we'll fill you in on the details.

Concessions Sign Up

Yep.. it's so important, we listed the link twice

WINTER CONCERT HIGHLIGHTS

Oliver

On December 8th, the New Palestine High School Auditorium was filled with holiday cheer as our Beginning, Intermediate, Advanced, and Jazz Bands all performed for a great crowd.

As attendees entered the auditorium, they were greeted by members of the jazz band, playing various Christmas-themed tunes like the title song from Home Alone.

Oliver Bindewald (above) displayed some of his musical talent by leading off the the formal concert with a terrific 4-mallet solo on the marimba. Personally speaking, I've always admired the individuals that can rock the multi-mallet stuff. Well done, Oliver!

Beginning band got a re-do, after a quickly identified false start. Mr Carney masterfully handled the eyebrows-touching-the-hairline moment before stopping what was sure to be a caravan of musical interpretations. Take-2 provided a great ensemble performance of House of the Rising Bells.

The Jazz Band performed a few numbers, including I'll Be Home For Christmas. Several soloists took their turn in-the-groove to put their musical signature on the works. Intermediate and Advanced Bands took their turn on the stage, capping off what was an enjoyable evening for all in attendance.

DANCE RECITAL RECAP

Big picture

The New Palestine High School Auditorium was a busy place last month! On December 13th, the NPHS Dance class, taught by Mrs. Shelby Burks, took the stage for their opportunity to perform.

Several solo performances, duets, and other group works were capped off by a full-class routine. Many of the dances were choreographed by the students themselves. We have very creative kiddos within all our performing arts groups! Everyone did a fantastic job & should be very proud of themselves.

See you again in the spring!!
