We need a big push this weekend to achieve our goal of selling 1000 dozen tamales as a group. We need every band family to sell 10 dozen. If everyone does that, we will get $6000 that we need to continue to pay for needs and experiences of our band program.

ALL ORDER FORMS AND MONEY IS DUE TUESDAY OCTOBER 26th in the Band Hall.

We are selling tamales to raise money for the band.

WHEN: Oct 16 - Oct 26

WHY: Tamales are awesome! AND we need to raise more funds to support the band and all the things we do.

We are partnering with Tommy Tamales, a local restaurant in Grapevine, to help us reach our fundraising goal. Here’s how it works:

Step 1: Sell Tamales

Tamales are $14 per dozen. We will sell them for 10 days.

Step 2: Submit Order Form

Submit your order form and payment collected on October 26th. All checks need to be made to GHS Band Boosters.

Here is the form. Download it and complete it.

We will also be handing out printed forms after the Stadium Rehearsal on Monday, OCT 16.

Step 3: Pick up your tamales and Deliver

Tamales will be ready after school on NOV 18th. You will pick up your order and deliver them.

Our goal is to sell 1000 dozen. That means we need each band family to sell 10 dozen.

Pit Crew Scholarship

The Pit Crew Scholarship recognizes and rewards senior members of the GHS Mustang Band who maintain a good academic standing and who exemplify what might be called the “pit crew work ethic” – working behind the scenes, doing unglamorous but necessary work, without seeking a reward other than helping the band. Band member(s) who are selected to receive a scholarship are recognized at the annual band banquet with a financial award that can range from $500 - $1000. The link to apply for a Pit Crew Scholarship will be posted on the Band Website on November 1st, 2021. The deadline to submit an application will be November 15th, 2021.

ACCESSORIES:

We know that the rigorous performances and growing teens will cause wear and tear and need replacement, particularly, of accessories. Guard members are required to keep their uniform and accessories performance ready at all times. This means that when they tear, get lost, or stop fitting properly they must be replaced. If your child needs to reorder/replace any of their accessories due to wear and tear please see this document. It has all the links needed to order replacements or additional items.

VOLUNTEER NEEDS:

1) We need your help providing snacks to the guard after the games or events. Snacks will be given to the guard after the game responsibilities are fulfilled and served in the band parking lot. Guard members may not have their snack or drink in uniform. Dates we need snacks are 10/29, 11/05. Specifics about the snack were emailed on 09/28. Please email Rosa Garner at guard_liaison@grapevinehsband.com to sign up.

2) We have openings on the laundry schedule. This is to wash both the spirit uniform and the marching unitard the kids will wear to perform. The uniforms will need to be taken home on Friday or Saturday, if a competition weekend, in the garment bags, laundered and returned on Monday hung in the garment bags. Soap and care instructions will be provided to you. We need someone to help on 11/05.

CONCESSIONS:

Hello all,

We are in the home stretch for regular season concessions - only 2 more varsity games;

For the game on October 22nd we need

7 people (3 for the North Stand and 4 for the South Stand) for the 1st shift (5:45pm-8:00pm)

10 people (5 for each the South Stand and the North Stand) for the 2nd shift (8:00-10:15pm)

If you still need your 4 shifts please sign up for this game - see link below.

If you are unable to serve these exact times that is ok, just let me know what time you can get there and what time you need to leave and I can make just about anything work!

Remember the more food we sell, the more money we make for the band which will help offset future band expenses.

GHS Band Concessions VARSITY at MPS

Thank you all very much!! We are in the home stretch.

LAUNDRY:

Thank you to everyone who has volunteered their time and their washing machines to help wash uniforms at one time or the other. All are appreciated. We near the end of October and there are some laundry slots open for the few weeks coming up. Please volunteer if you are available. https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10c054eada92ba31-laundry

Hard to believe, but looking forward to next year, the boosters are in need of a replacement or two, for Uniforms. It is a big job, but the kids depend on it. Please consider being a replacement, or a magic-duo replacement, for this position. I am available for any questions.
Thank you, Kristen Pratt 817-781-4309

SENIOR PARENTS:

Many of the organizations that participate in Friday Night Lights are making a poster for their Senior to hang on the railing or the fence for Senior Night Nov 5. We are going to participate. It needs to be a 20x30 foam poster board with their name, 5-6 pics, and the band logo. We will have a poster making party between now and then…so start looking for 5-6 band pics of your Senior and get those printed. Join our Senior Parents GroupMe:
