Taylor Swift - You Belong With Me

You're on the phone with your girlfriend
She's upset, she's going off about something that you said
'Cause she doesn't get your humor like I do.

I'm in the room, it's a typical Tuesday night.
I'm listening to the kind of music she doesn't like.
And she'll never know your story like I do.

But she wears short skirts
I wear t-shirts
She's cheer captain
And I'm on the bleachers
Dreaming about the day when you wake up and find
That what you're looking for has been here the whole time.

If you could see
That I'm the one
Who understands you.
Been here all along.
So, why can't you see
You belong with me,
You belong with me.

Walk in the streets with you in your worn out jeans
I can't help thinking this is how it ought to be.
Laughing on a park bench thinking to myself,
"Hey, isn't this easy?"

And you've got a smile
That could light up this whole town.
I haven't seen it in a while
Since she brought you down.

You say you're fine I know you better than that.
Hey, what you doing with a girl like that?

She wears high heels,
I wear sneakers.
She's cheer captain,
And I'm on the bleachers.
Dreaming about the day when you wake up and find
That what you're looking for has been here the whole time.

If you could see
That I'm the one
Who understands you,
Been here all along.
So, why can't you see
You belong with me.

Standing by and waiting at your backdoor.
All this time how could you not know, baby?
You belong with me,
You belong with me.

[Instrumental]

Oh, I remember you driving to my house
In the middle of the night.
I'm the one who makes you laugh
When you know you're 'bout to cry.
I know your favorite songs,
And you tell me about your dreams.
Think I know where you belong,
Think I know it's with me.

Can't you see
That I'm the one
Who understands you?
Been here all along.
So, why can't you see
You belong with me.

Standing by and waiting at your backdoor.
All this time how could you not know, baby?
You belong with me,
You belong with me.

You belong with me.

Have you ever thought just maybe
You belong with me?
You belong with me.

Analysis

This relationship is represented through lyrics of a song written by Taylor Swift . The song is about a girl having feelings for a boy who doesn't see that she has those feelings that are so strong. The relationship is seen through the eyes of the girl who likes the boy and she feels like she is chasing him , because she knows so much about him, understands him , and genuinely cares about him and his feelings. But she is still chasing him , because he can't see that an amazing girl is right in front of him . This is a biases and stereotype in the sense that women are always chasing men and that women are always the sensitive one in a relationship or in a potential relationship. In some cases this is an accurate representation of relationships , but this is not accurate in general as many times men may have to chase women and sometimes men are the sensitive ones. This does show diversity as some women are like this but it does not give a general idea . To be more inclusive there can be an equal share of interest of both parties in the song because that is a factor that contributes to healthy relationships. As we learned in class a relationship like this should have qualities such as equal effort from both parties so that no one is feeling used.

Mulan - I'll Make A Man Out Of You

Analysis

This Media Source was from the Disney Movie Mulan , the song in this movie is called "Ill Make a Man Out of You " This clip makes Men look Strong and Women look weak , it is trying to make a women have qualities of a man , such as stronger , smarter etc. The goal wasn't to make a women into a stronger women , a man . This is example of sexism . The clip makes women look weak & clueless , less fit as well. It makes it look like women always need to be supported by men and that omen are not good enough . But then she proves them wrong that she can be a 'man' . This is not accurate of a representation of relationships now , because women now are more independent and don't rely on men. This although is an example of diversity through disney because this was the first time that the women in the movie wasn't primarily a princess with makeup and pretty dresses constantly , which shows that women don't always have to be 'figure heads' or all dressed up . Even more now disney is coming out with movies that show more gender equality such as Brave , even when a princess is all dressed up that she can defend her country and kingdom. Disney more and more is showing gender and race equality through movies like Brave , Frozen , Princess and the Frog . These movies are showing how women can be strong no matter what and no matter what race. Which for this age is now amazing as it is more correct . Next to make disney more diverse they may include homosexual couples within movies which would make disney the best film makers , by keeping up to date with current equality trends.
