Superintendent Briefing
April 2021
A Note from Dr. Hanson, Superintendent
Dear, Teachers, Friends, & Families,
Spring break is near. I want to thank each of you for your continued hard work and dedication to NPPS and our students. I hope that you can take the time to reflect, relax, and be with family and friends during this Spring Break. Once we return, we will be in the home stretch, making that final push to the end of the school year while continuing to provide a safe and supportive environment for our students.
We have had an exciting school year, and we are blessed to have had the opportunity for in-person learning for the entire school year. All of this would not be possible without all NPPS staff, students, and parents' hard work and dedication. Thank you for all you do for the students. I appreciate your commitment, and I am honored to be on your team! We are better together, and together we accomplish great things.
WE ARE NPPS!

Kids Klub
Summer Planning Moving Full Steam Ahead!
Kids Klub is moving full steam ahead with our Summer 2021 planning.
Our Summer Academy is currently full and will contact any waitlist families if/when openings become available.
Afterschool Professionals Week is April 19-23; please be sure to tell your favorite after-school staff how much they are appreciated.
Currently, Kids Klub is partnering with NP Community Playground Build Committee and NPPS Preschool Director, Peggy Romsheck, to enhance our outdoor classroom at The Buffalo Early Learning Center. Once our grants are written and our funding secured, we hope to have two great places for our families to enjoy spending time with their children.
Thank you to everyone who continues to support our efforts to keep your children safe, healthy, and engaged after school.

Patrons will drive thru the alley between the football field and the high school building, exiting on West A Street. Use only to entrance closest to the tennis courts to avoid congestion as students leave after school. While waiting for the distribution to begin you need to follow all traffic laws. NPHS Journalism to Sell its Photos
Press Release
Release: Friday, March 26, 2021
Contact: Lori Larson
North Platte High School Journalism adviser
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
NPHS Journalism to Sell its Photos
“Can I get a copy of that?” is often asked of North Platte High School Journalism photographers while on assignment. For the first time ever, the “J-Squad” (Journalism Squad) will be selling their photos to the public starting Friday, March 26 at nphsjournalism.smugmug.com.
The students creating the NPHS Bulldogger student newspaper and Round Up yearbook spend 12 months a year documenting the school year through both photos and reporting. Journalism adviser Lori Larson said the students take hundreds of shots at each event. “Many photos never make it into a publication because of space,” she said. “Now, people can see all of our outstanding photos.” Larson said selling the photos is a service to the parents, students and community. “Our photographers have been able to capture many of the moments that parents and fans didn’t get to see this year,” she said. “We want to share those.” Yearbook news editor Jay Castañeda has been building the site. “We have taken tens of thousands of photos this year, but tried to make a site that is easy to navigate so you can easily find your sport, event or person,“ he said. Castañeda organized the photos into folders by school year, then subject (like: football, one-act plays), and then event date. People can buy a digital download for less than a dollar each. However, commercial usage downloads, prints and gifts will cost more. Photography editor Elsacia Buck said journalism photographers analyze their photos and pick out the best ones for publication, but other photos may be important to parents, students or their friends. The photos available for sale will include all of the shots, even the ones that might be poorly composed or out of focus. “That photo might
be the only one taken of a student,” she said. Castañeda said that journalism students plan to upload previous years’ photos before the end of this school year.
Proceeds from the sale of NPHS Journalism photos will go towards enrichment opportunities for journalism students.
