Dear Galvin Families,
It seems like the month of November is moving quickly and continues to be very busy. We are looking forward to Parent/Teacher conferences on Wednesday, November 17th. Our first session of after school clubs will be concluding this week or next. Clubs will resume in January with some new offerings. After school clubs are a wonderful way for students to explore new interests, and make connections with other students as well as teachers.
We hope everyone had an enjoyable weekend.

Grade 6 PBL Presentation
Thank you to all of you who came to our first PBL Showcase! We are so proud of our students and teachers for completing their first PBL unit of the school year. It takes courage and conviction to show your learning to an audience of peers and grown ups and we applaud our students for taking this academic risk, persevering through their nervousness and growing as learners and people. This is what the PBL journey is all about!

The last day and time to schedule an appointment will be Tuesday, November 16, 2021 at 8:00 PM.

If you are able to sign up for an earlier appointment during the day, please do so to leave open slots for parents who are unable to attend during the day. If there are no appointments available for a particular educator, please contact that person directly for a different time if necessary. Also, when scheduling appointments, please allow time to navigate moving from virtual link to virtual link or from classroom to classroom.
ACTION REQUIRED! GMS Handbook Sign Off
It is the responsibility of each family to review the Handbook together and to fill out the 2021-22 Canton Public Schools Student/Family Handbook and Permissions Signature Page. The link to the Google Form can be found here. Please ☑ each section and electronically sign this form as receipt and agreement as stated below. We ask that you complete this form for each child you have at the Galvin.

Term 1 Report Cards
Term 1 Report Cards will be added to your student's E-Locker in PlusPortal on Tuesday, 11/16/2021 by the end of the day.
To access your report card on the portal:
STUDENTS: Log in to your portal and click on the E-LOCKER located in the green menu bar at the top of the portal page. You will find a PDF of your Term 1 Report Card dated 11/16/2021. Click on the BLUE download button and your report card will open.
PARENTS/GUARDIANS: Log in to your portal and select your student. Click on the E-LOCKER located in the green menu bar at the top of the portal page. You will find a PDF of your student's report card dated 11/16/2021. Click on the BLUE download button and your report card will open.
Should you experience any difficulties accessing your student's report card, please reach out to the Galvin main office at 781-821-5070 Ext. 3101 for assistance.
Lost & Found
Attention: COVID Testing Health Update
School pictures were distributed to students and staff that ordered them on Friday, November 12, 2021. If you ordered pictures but did not receive them, please have your student check with their X block teacher on Monday. If their X block teacher does not have your child's pictures, you can reach out to Chestnut Hill Studios directly at 508-336-4777.
Picture retake day will be on Thursday, December 2, 2021. Any students wishing to have their picture retaken, should bring their original package with them to school that morning to give to the photographer.
Additionally, if you were absent on the original picture day, please plan to have your picture taken on December 2nd. An order form is below.
Project 351 Food Drive
CANTON PUBLIC LIBRARY TO LAUNCH HOMEWORK CENTER FOR STUDENTS
The Canton Public Library is pleased to announce the opening of the Homework Center beginning Monday November 29th in the library Community Room. This program is offered to Canton middle school and high school aged residents. Our mission is to both alleviate school-related stress and to promote a sense of community among Canton students. Teen and tween residents will have access to free tutoring and homework help and also volunteer to tutor others.
The Homework Center will meet on a variety of days and times to accommodate as many schedules as possible. Please check the library’s Event Calendar for specific meeting times. Any adults or teenagers with tutoring experience or excellent academic records can apply to volunteer by visiting the Canton Public Library website and clicking on “Volunteer to Tutor.”
