GMS Principal's Corner

November 14, 2021

Dear Galvin Families,

It seems like the month of November is moving quickly and continues to be very busy. We are looking forward to Parent/Teacher conferences on Wednesday, November 17th. Our first session of after school clubs will be concluding this week or next. Clubs will resume in January with some new offerings. After school clubs are a wonderful way for students to explore new interests, and make connections with other students as well as teachers.

We hope everyone had an enjoyable weekend.

Thank you,

GMS Administration

Honoring our Veterans

Students and staff honored members of their family and community that have made sacrifices to protect our freedoms.

School Musical Auditions

Auditions for this years school musical, Mary Poppins, will be held on November 15, 16, and 18th after school in Room 219.

Students may choose one of these dates. To access the audition song and sign up; please join our google classroom.

Grade 6 PBL Presentation

Thank you to all of you who came to our first PBL Showcase! We are so proud of our students and teachers for completing their first PBL unit of the school year. It takes courage and conviction to show your learning to an audience of peers and grown ups and we applaud our students for taking this academic risk, persevering through their nervousness and growing as learners and people. This is what the PBL journey is all about!

Thank you, also, to those parents who joined us for the PBL webinar. We appreciate your time and questions. For those of you not able to join us, linked here is the Power Point that we shared and linked here is the full one-hour recording of the webinar. We hope that you take time to review one or both of them. Should you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Chromebooks: Important Reminder

It is our students' responsibility to bring their charged Chromebook to school with them each day. We have a very limited number of loaners available and are using those to first support students who's Chromebooks aren't working. The Chromebook is an essential, daily, school supply. Please help your child come up with a process that allows them to have their device ready for school each day. Thank you.

Theater Appreciation Club

Last Thursday 11/4, Nick Sanchez-Kiernan, a friend of Mrs. Coates and current member of the Philip national tour of Hamilton the musical zoomed with Mrs. Coates’s Theatre Appreciation Club. Nick answered student questions about auditioning, favorite roles, prior experience, etc. and he even sang a song from Hamilton for the students. Nick will be coming to Providence with Hamilton at the end of the month and was also a member of the Broadway casts of Mary Poppins, Tarzan and Rent.
