ON-SITE COVID TESTING FOR STUDENTS & FAMILIES
Dear Lemon Grove Families,
On-site COVID-19 testing will begin next week! In order for your child to be tested, your child will need to bring out a completed consent form (<< click on the blue words). The consent form will need to be filled out (first section only) and signed at the bottom. Copies will be available in the office, and will be sent home with your child. If you want your child tested, please be sure they bring this completed form with them to school on the day of testing.
Please see the district's COVID-19 Testing Frequently Asked Questions document by clicking here.
Site Testing Days are:
Monday: LGAM (9am - 1pm)
Tuesday: San Miguel (8:30am - 11am) & Monterey Heights (12pm - 2:30pm)
Wednesday: San Altos (9am - 12pm)
Thursday: Mt. Vernon (8:30am - 11:30am) and LGAE (12pm - 2:30pm)
Friday: VLMA (9am - 1pm)
Please reach out to communications@lemongrovesd.net if you have any questions!
Thank you,
Lemon Grove School District
This online portal allows for parents to receive the testing results directly via text within 48 hours of the testing. This online registration replaces the permission form for COVID-19 testing. Through online registration, the testing company receives your consent for your child to undergo testing, and it also provides you with access to your child's test results afterwards. Please use a mobile phone number in your registration in order to receive those texts.
Go to https://lgsd.testscheduler.net/ to register your child for COVID-19 on site testing today!
The full instructions for how to use the portal and register your child, please click on the link below!
Instructions Link: https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/16OF2qn4BUp6NKjyIBFT9mNAcpvoMwIRT/edit#slide=id.p1
Please note the following:
Please register your child by at least the day before testing occurs at your child's school site.
You will need to register your child each week through this portal for testing until further notice (a one-time consent will be made available soon).
You may also still continue to use the hard copy permission forms previously sent out; however, these forms do not provide you with access to test results. You will only receive a notification if your child's test is positive.
The updated COVID-19 Testing FAQ Document is also available with further details for on site testing.

Hello LGAM Families,
We celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month to recognize the achievements and contributions of Hispanic American champions who have inspired others to achieve success. Our students in Spanish classes had an opportunity to learn all about the importance of our hispanic culture and had a beautiful fiesta to celebrate!
Hispanic Heritage Month takes place September 15 to October 15 every year as a time to recognize and celebrate the many contributions, diverse cultures, and extensive histories of the American Latino community. Beginning in 1968, Hispanic Heritage Month was originally observed as “Hispanic Heritage Week” under President Lyndon Johnson, but it was later extended to a month during President Ronald Reagan’s term in 1988.
Since then, the month has been celebrated nationwide through festivals, art shows, conferences, community gatherings, and much more. The month also celebrates the independence days of several Latin American countries, including: Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, and Nicaragua on September 15th, Mexico on September 16th, and Chile on September 18th.
Latino educators, scientists, artists, and other professionals help make our communities more resilient & equitable. In a video to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month, Secretary Cardona emphasizes that Latino voices, dreams & successes matter now more than ever.

LET'S MAKE SURE WE GET TO ALL CLASSES ON TIME DURING THE SCHOOL DAY!
Parents, please continue to help us with attendance by reminding your student the importance of being on time and in their class before the bell rings. LGAM stresses the need for students to get to school and class on time and with good reason.
Studies conducted by the U.S. Department of Education on truancy, which is connected with tardiness, show that school attendance is a major factor when it comes to school success and student behavior.
Problems with Tardiness
The most crucial learning hours of a school day are the morning hours, because they are when students are most attentive. Students who are tardy miss the beginning of their morning classes.
Academics and Achievement
Students who are frequently tardy have lower GPAs, lower scores on standardized assessments, and lower graduation rates. Chronic tardiness in elementary and middle school is also linked to failure in high school.
Behavior Problems
Students who are frequently tardy have higher rates of suspension and other disciplinary measures. Tardiness causes students to feel disconnected with school, leading to behavior problems and dropouts.
Effect on Others
When students are tardy, they negatively impact their teachers and other students. Teachers are often required to allow tardy students to make up work, which often requires them to restructure their lessons or re-teach missed material. Tardiness also takes other students' attention away from a teacher's lesson, leading to more behavior problems and missed instruction.
Thank you for your support with reminding your student to be on time for all classes throughout the day!

School Dismissal: At the end of the school day students are expected to either leave campus & go home or sign into a supervised after school activity. Loitering on or around school grounds is not permitted. Students need to be off grounds by 3:30 p.m. (1:28 p.m. on minimum days) or in a supervised activity. Administration will contact the parents/guardians of students who repeatedly remain on or around campus after school to request that they make arrangements for their child’s proper supervision after dismissal.
We are seeing an increase in crimes and unsafe activity after school. After certain hours, we will not have supervision at the park and on campus. Please support admin with reminding your child(ren) go straight home after school and do not remain at the skate park too late.
