PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE:
Dear Boulder Creek Families,
We are nearing the end of our annual CAASPP testing period. In fact, we are in the make-up testing phase as we finish with those who missed school during their original testing window. Students and teachers have worked hard all year to make great academic progress, and state testing is just one way to showcase that work before we finish out what has been a fabulous 2021-22.
After testing, oftentimes "spring fever" begins to set in for students and adults. As adults, we have the capacity to continue pushing ourselves through the finish line before we begin celebrating the year in the rearview mirror. Most children need to be encouraged to finish strong in a responsible way by the adults in their lives. There are many end-of-year activities approaching and some are reward activities tied to positive behavior and/or grade goals. Please team with the Boulder Creek staff in reinforcing the life skill of finishing strong so we can all positively celebrate our amazing school year!
Sincerely,
Tina Croes
"Courage is not being fearless -
it's acting in the face of fear."

COURAGE
May’s character focus is COURAGE! Many think that courage is acting without fear, but here is how I think of courage and what Ward Hessig says of courage, "Courage is not being fearless—it's acting in the face of fear."
At Boulder Creek, we are reinforcing with our students that small acts of courage every day build our character and make us who we are. We tell the truth even if we fear punishment or judgment. We stand up for justice even if we fear reprisals and ridicule. We help those in need even though our security may be compromised. These are the everyday marks of courage.
OPEN HOUSE - MAY 24TH
Open House is always that time of the school year when your child's classroom is open for you to come and see some of the incredible learning that took place as well as memories that were made throughout the school year.
After two years, we couldn't be more excited to see our extended Boulder Creek Family back on campus in person!
Open House will be on the evening of Tuesday, May 24th. Grade-level spans will be open at different times in order to accommodate our families who have multiple children at Boulder Creek. The events of the evening are as follows:
5:30-6:00: Music program performance in the gym
5:30-7:00: Food available for purchase near the gym
6:00-7:00: Pre-School - 3rd-grade classrooms open
6:30-7:30: 4th-8th grade classrooms open
We all look forward to sharing the great things that happened at Boulder Creek this year!

8th GRADE GRADUATION
Like last year, this year's graduation will take place on the Boulder Creek field. Our normal indoor venue, Simpson University, has construction going on in their gym. Our field will allow us to include more spectators. If it's raining, our secondary plan will be the Boulder Creek Gym which would mean we would have to significantly decrease each graduate's tickets. So, hot weather is better than rain for graduation. Let's hope for something in between.
Graduates have been given a graduation ticket request sheet. We have limited seating, so each graduate is entitled to 8 tickets to distribute among their family and friends. You may request more, but any amount over 8 will not be guaranteed. We will distribute any returned extra tickets via a lottery if necessary.
Boulder Creek's 8th-Grade Graduation will take place on Tuesday, June 7th at 6:00 p.m.
We are excited to celebrate the Class of 2022!
Will Your Child Be Eligible for Preschool in 2022-23?
WHAT IS TRANSITIONAL KINDERGARTEN?
Welcome to Kindergarten/Transitional Kindergarten (TK) at Boulder Creek!
California has made Transitional Kindergarten (TK) universally available (although not required). The curriculum and approach in TK are designed to bridge the gap between preschool and elementary school, providing an extra year to acquire kindergarten readiness.
Check out the dates below to see if your child will be eligible for TK year! Remember, students who turn 5 after February 2, 2023, may still be eligible to start TK in the fall depending on availability and readiness.

PARENT PORTAL LOG-IN
All parents, including new parents, should have logged into the Parent Portal at some point already. Why do you need to create a parent account? This is a secure platform through which you will view your child's teacher/class, receive your child’s report card, complete enrollment, and complete the necessary beginning of the year school forms like your child's emergency card. In the future, this is also how state testing results will be communicated.
Click HERE for the link to the parent portal. If you cannot log-in successfully, please call our school's office at 224-4140 or email our tech helpline at help@eesd.net. Be sure to keep your log-in information in a safe but accessible place.
