A MESSAGE FROM MRS. LAPLANT
Dear Country Dale Families,
For many of us, this time of year is full of joy and excitement but can also bring about various levels of stress and uncertainty. As someone who gets to spend several hours each day working with our youngest members of society, I get to witness children and adults going out of their way to help others in need or struggling. When this happens, a natural reaction is to practice gratitude whether it’s on behalf of someone else or in thanks to something someone did for us. Showing this type of gratitude is good for our mental health and boosts relationships with others. As I continue to explore more ways to be appreciative in life, I want to take this opportunity to thank our family members and the greater community for being so supportive of the work we do at Country Dale.
One easy place for me to start is to simply say thank you, Country Dale families, for your cooperation as we continue to navigate a few traffic changes on our property due to the Force Main Pipe project. Our morning drop-off is running much better with the changes. As a reminder, we are now asking parents to drop children off on the back blacktop. Students may not be dropped off in front of the building unless the bell has rung.
Thank you for continuing to be flexible!
Shaunna LaPlant - Country Dale Principal

5TH GRADE PARENT NIGHT
We can’t believe it, but it is almost time for our 5th-grade students to choose their classes for the 2023-2024 school year!
A virtual presentation with an introduction to Forest Park Middle School will be made available to all parents on January 10th. A school counselor will be visiting each elementary school in the days following to speak with students about middle school courses. Registration in PowerSchool will open on January 13th.
As a family, we encourage you to have conversations with your student(s) about their hopes for middle school. Our middle school classes are one of many ways for students to begin exploring their interests and learning more about themselves. We will continue to include transition information in our weekly bulletin for families. As always, if you ever have a question, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
POWERSCHOOL APP NEEDS UNINSTALL AND REINSTALL
Aside from parents and students being able to access PowerSchool (our student information system) on the web here, there is also a PowerSchool Mobile app. We were made aware by PowerSchool late last week that as of Wednesday, December 6th, if parents or students currently have the PowerSchool Mobile app on your device that you should completely uninstall and delete the app and reinstall the app fresh from the iOS App Store for iPhone/iPad (here) or Android Store (here). The reason for this reinstall is due to an upgrade of systems behind the scenes that makes the older version of the app incompatible. When signing in to the app fresh, you will be prompted for our school district’s code which is SHWH.
REGISTRATION FOR NEXT SCHOOL YEAR IS NOW OPEN!
Registration opened on Monday, December 5th for the 2023-24 school year on our website here. Registration is for any new families to Franklin or new students looking to register for next year in 4K, 5K or up through 12th grade. If you have any friends or family in Franklin that plan to have children attend Franklin Public Schools next year, please pass this information along to them! Registering early helps to get all information in our system for planned communications.
Please note that any student that is already attending Franklin Public Schools DOES NOT need to register for next school year as a new student. This includes students already in Preschool Speech, Early Childhood, and 4K. All parents/guardians will be required to review your student’s data during our summer Back-To-School Online Check-In process. Any family who knows a student will not be returning for the next school year should notify your school’s main office staff.
WINTER IS SO MUCH FUN!
Help us build a “Winter is Snow Much Fun” display by submitting a photo of your CD student enjoying a winter activity. The photo can be from any age, the only requirement is that they are enjoying winter! Photos must be submitted by 12/16/2022. Click here or the image to the side for all the details!
RECESS GUIDELINES
Wisconsin weather is upon us! Please make sure your son/daughter is dressed appropriately for the cold weather with hats, gloves, scarves, boots and snow pants. Snow pants and boots are required to be worn in order for students to play in the snow. However, this being Wisconsin, it can become warm and sunny by noontime. Please remind your child if they choose to remove their jacket during recess they are to be tied around their waist and not left on the playground.
The decision to have an outdoor or indoor recess is based on both the wind speed and temperature at 11:30 am. All students are required to go outside for recess daily unless the windchill is below zero or it is raining. If it is an outside recess day, all students must go outdoors. Please label your child's coat, hat, boots, & mittens with their name.
PTO NEWS AND EVENTS
STAFF “FAVORITE THINGS”
The attached link is a list of the Country Dale staff’s “favorite things” in case you would like to use as a reference for your holiday shopping. Staff Favorite Things. We will send out again when we have more updates from the staff as well. We will not be sending a Scrip order for gift cards at this time.
STAFF SNACKS
The PTO is introducing a new idea to show staff appreciation on a more frequent basis! Families can sign up to bring in a small treat for teachers and staff on this SignUpGenius link. Snacks can be anything from homemade cookies or bars, bagels, soft drinks, coffee, candy, donuts, or anything else you might be thinking of. This does not need to be a meal by any means, just a small way to say we appreciate you! There are two slots available for each week, and you may bring in your treats in the morning when it is convenient for you.
TREASURER IN TRAINING
We are in search of a new PTO treasurer as Katie Delemont has been serving for many, many years and per our by-laws, we need to vote on a new person. If you would be interested in learning more, please contact Leah Palmer or Katie Delemont directly. leahpalmer16@gmail.com
