"Bloom Where You Are Planted"

Great Week Back!

Greetings Knight Families,

Thank you to all of you who attended our Meet the Teacher event and walked your students up to the front on the first day. It was great to see you and welcome all of our students back. The classrooms and hallways are filled with laughter and excitement. Our Knights are learning and having fun!

As we begin any new year, we are faced with unique challenges. We apologize again for any long lines at dismissal and bus number/route changes. We are working through the kinks of these items and will continue to refine our procedures. Thank you for your grace as we move into next week.

We will continue to greet students in the front and have staff available to help get students safely to class. Our patrols will be out front along with some of our CAMP teachers opening car doors in the morning.

Thank you again for trusting your children with us. We look forward to all of the new opportunities that another week brings. Enjoy your weekend!

In partnership,

Jennifer Escamilla- Kendall Principal

Traffic Pattern Plan- New Information

We are trying something new to help eliminate the am and pm traffic congestion. We are opening both lanes so that we can maximize the space that we have and help to reduce congestion. Please know that with any new change, there is a learning curve and growing pains. We will try the dual lanes all of next week before we make any more changes. In order to make this successful, the cars in the group will all unload or load before any car moves from the group. After they are released, the next 10 will be brought up. Please see the visual below to help you prepare for Monday morning. We will begin on Monday, August 15th at 7:00.

Reminders

7:00am – Main Doors Open for Students. In order to maintain safety for our students, they will not be allowed in the building until staff are on duty at 7:00.

Dismissal- Have your car sign visible so that we can expedite the dismissal process and call students quickly. Please make sure to write your child's name in black marker.

Only students who qualify will receive free meals. All other students must pay for meals.

Dismissal changes must be communicated by 2:00 pm each day to the front office. Notification after 2:00 will not be honored for safety reasons.

If you are signing your student out early, please do so before 2:30 so that there is not interference with dismissal.

Important Upcoming Dates

Transportation

As with the majority of school districts across the nation, Boerne ISD continues to have school bus driver vacancies. In order to provide you with as much predictability as possible we need to increase the number of double runs to your campus. What this means is that some routes will be dropped off earlier so that the same bus can go back to another area for that campus and pick-up another bus load. In the afternoon, some routes will have to wait for the bus to return for them. If your Bus Number has a P1 or P2 in the name, then the double run applies to your student’s stop.

Bus stop information online already has this plan built in. If you have any questions you can check for your stop times on the Boerne ISD bus stop finder website here, email the Transportation Department, or call the transportation office at (830) 357-2970.

It is important to note that we will continue to service every route in our district and have not cut any routes. We encourage parents and guardians to drive and carpool your children to school if at all possible in order to avoid additional traffic on our roadways and alleviate crowded buses.

If you or someone you know would like to apply to become a BISD Bus Driver please click here. We would love for you to join our team!
