4th Annual Best Buddies Talent Show Recap
Thank you to all the staff that attended last night's show. The show was a great success for all the buddies and students who participated in the event. A special shout out to Mike Hoffman, Joe Bisbee and freshman, Kal Larsen for all their expertise with the technology. We could not have done it without them. This event makes it possible for the buddies to showcase their talents and allows them to shine with their peer buddy friends.
The attached picture was taken by Elise Reid and shows the support the Best Buddies have for Hannah Dean as she moves to Seattle.
Thanks to Gabbi Lewis for this submission...
From now until March 25th bring your old prom dresses to Jeanie Erickson’s room 124 at GDRHS! Thanks to everyone who has already donated a dress.
The GD Peer leaders are hosting the first-ever prom dress drive. If you have any gently used prom/homecoming/formal dresses laying around in your house bring it to the high school. Drop-offs can happen Monday-Friday until March 25th. They will be donated to the Belle of the Ball hosted by Jordan’s Furniture and Anton's Cleaners and given to teens in America that can’t afford dresses. It’d be amazing to help teens have an amazing prom experience.

Mind Matters
Yoga can help keep you Balanced!
Practicing yoga helps one to move from the fight/flight; sympathetic nervous system to rest/digest; para-sympathetic nervous system state. More simply stated, yoga helps build a sense of self while increasing body awareness, relieving stress, reducing muscle tension, strain and inflammation. Yoga also helps to sharpen ones attention and concentration along with a multitude of other positive benefits that help promote good mental health.

GD in Peru
Thanks to Ro Dudevoir, class of 2023 for the submission...
Recently, over February break, students traveled to Perú. A group of 13 students and two teachers, Ms. Penchansky and Mrs. Doherty, departed for the ten-day trip on February 12th. The group began their Perú trip in the city of Lima, and went on to explore different cities and communities including Cusco, the Sacred Valley, and Paracas. At the Sacred Valley, the group worked with The Sacred Valley Project, a local community project which helps young girls that live far away from secondary schools to receive an education by providing local accommodations during week days. Our G-D group supported this project by gardening and cleaning up the outside grounds of the dorms in which the girls in the project live throughout the school week. In addition to the community service, the G-D students visited several known landmarks of Perú such as Machu Picchu, Sacsayhuamán, Maras Salt Ponds, and the Ballestas Islands and also got to experience Perú’s daily life in the streets, markets, studios, and restaurants. This gave G-D students the opportunity to experience the culture of the country, and practice their Spanish speaking skills! The tour group was led by two excellent EF tour guides, Paula and Marta, who helped throughout the whole trip, and also ran language lessons and daily reflections with the group. The Perú trip was an unforgettable experience for all students and staff who attended. On behalf of all attendees of this trip, I would like to express our gratitude for the opportunity to travel to this beautiful country with such an amazing group of people!
