HIGHLIGHTS ACROSS OPS
WSE Animal Shelter Community Project
Student council members are creating short videos about animals up for adoption. They're creating short bios on each one, then putting together a video with that biography and video of the animal. They hope that personalizing each animal's story and personality will help in getting them adopted. Check out one of the videos here.
In addition to the bios, student council started a drive for the shelter for the entire school. Students are encouraged to bring a number of pet items (food, blankets, etc.) and/or donate their coins to raise money. They have a fun coin drop machine in the main hallway to collect donations!
STREAM Students, Main Street Team Up
This project is up for a $1,000 grant from the Allegan County Community Foundation's Love Your Hometown Grant contest. There are two Otsego projects vying for the grant and the winner is determined through online votes, so please vote as often as you can until March 31st!

Alotobots Start Competition Season
This theme of this year's FIRST Robotics challenge is Destination: Deep Space. All teams have 6 weeks to try to get their robot to complete a set of tasks to earn points. They need to place hatch panels onto their rockets and cargo ships, load cargo and return to the safety of their habitat before the next sandstorm comes in blocking their vision.
Here's an animation of how the competition and points work for this year's theme.
Good luck, Alotobots!

Melissa Garrett, OMS Special Education teacher
I enjoy camping at different state parks with my husband and three kids each summer. Some of our favorite spots are Wilderness State Park and PJ Hoffmaster.
When I am not teaching, I love to spend my time traveling the world. My husband, daughter, and I just had the chance to visit friends in India for a wedding. This summer I'm going to travel to Costa Rica and explore the rainforest and beaches.
Every generation in my family, going back to my great-great grandma has had a teacher in it. I have my dream job! I've wanted to be a teacher since first grade. I once got in trouble for stealing extra worksheets to take home so that I could teach my little brother.
Carissa Taylor, WSE Food Service
I played clarinet in school, and still play regularly today. I play offertories in my church and also play in the River Cities Concert Band.
I absolutely love acapella music! I have been to several acapella concerts, my favorite groups are Straight No Chaser and Home Free.
One month before I got married, my mom took my brother and I to Cancun for one last family vacation. We got to swim with dolphins and parasail over the ocean!
