Remote Learning Tips

Virtual Whiteboard Options

Two newer options for Whiteboards your students can use remotely are Flipgrid and is super easy to use. I filmed my process to get started, and it's very simple. Check out how it works here, and see the steps below. You don't have to make an account or remember any passwords. Here's a video from explaining it in even more detail.
About a month ago, I shared Flipgrid's new screencasting feature, but along with that new feature was a whiteboard option. Check out this video by Richard Byrne from Free Tech for Teachers to find out how to use this feature (along with others). I love Flipgrid-it is such an easy way to collect responses from students (like book reviews...add what you've been reading, too!) Now, students can respond with a video, screencast, or on a whitebaord.

What do you (and your students) have checked out?

If you want to see what's checked out to you in Destiny, go to and login with your ID number and password. (If your current password isn't working, try an old one...don't know why it's not updated for everyone.) Then, go to "my info" to see what's on your account. The video below walks you throug it. If you have students asking about books checked out, feel free to share the video with them.

We are currently working on senior books. I emailed everyone last week to let them know where they stand, and Tracy is checking in books tomorrow and Wednesday. She'll be checking in books left in lockers for seniors and looking in classrooms. If you know you have a pile or box sitting in your classroom, please let me know. She's made a list of everyone that's contacted us so far. We will change senior due dates to May 7 after we check everything in on Wednesday. We will start working on grades 9-11 after we finish with seniors.

Online Help for Staff and Students

I've added info to the Link page on the MRHS Website. These are both "Featured Links" on the MRHS Links site. If you think of something students may need, please let me know, and I'll add it to the student page.

My Office Hours

Staff is free to email me anytime, and I'm happy to chat over the phone or do a video chat, too.

For students, I've posted this on the library website:
  • Online Office Hours for Mrs. LaRue: 9:00-10:00 am and 2:00-3:00 pm, Monday-Friday
  • You can also e-mail if you need help with your password, using any of our online resources, or if you'd like to set up a video call for one-on-one help. Get quick tech help here.
