Gateway Sharing Day

What is Gateway?
You may ask, "What is Gateway?" If you didn't know already, the Gateway Project is an eye-opening experience for our soon-to-be 7th graders! Your children study Ancient Civilizations and compare and contrast many different topics. This is considered the most important project of the year! The students made presentations about their ancient civilizations, and the time has come to share them!
When Do They Present?
The Gateway Projects will be presented on Friday, May 27th. The project will be presented at the school, 1711 Landis Highway Mooresville, North Carolina 28115. You don't have to worry about dropping your child off, as it will be during regular school times.
What is in it?
The students started by researching two civilizations, one that the whole class did, and one that they chose. First, they make notecards. Then, they make a draft and finalize it. The students then make a digital product. Finally, the children make a non-digital product in their enhancement groups. All this information is pulled together in a nifty Google Site, made by the student.
Presentation Times :
Lewis, Griffith, Izzo, and Meadows - 8:40 - 9:40 a.m.
Pope, Seals, Conley, and Kaemba - 2:00 - 3:00 p.m.
Why did they do this anyway?
This is a long continued project throughout Mooresville's history. It is both ELA and History in one convenient assignment! Your child worked during class-time for the last five months on this one task! For the last two weeks, your child, have been working on physical products in art and music class.

Picture Perfect or Picture Purpose?
As you can see above, pictures were taken of hard-working children. Why? I'm sure that most of your children would appreciate it if you attended. They worked very hard on their projects and their teachers are very proud. "The Gateway was very unique and I learned about the research process from it," said Jakob Davis in Mrs. Izzo's class. The reason the pictures are included is because the kids in the 6th grade hall worked really hard. Please attend the presentation and take a moment to admire your child's work, if you can.
