Supporting 21st Century Classrooms in La Canada
Save Time When Updating Your Class Website!
Weebly is super easy, but many of us end up posting the same information in multiple places. Reclaim those precious minutes!
You can easily embed a live calendar (linked to your Google Classroom calendar) into your Weebly site. When you post an assignment to Classroom, it can instantly update your Weebly site. Or, if you send home a weekly "upcoming assignments and activities" sheet on a Google doc, this can also instantly appear on your Weebly site.
You can easily embed a live Google App by using Weebly's "embed code" element. Check out the video below, or email me and we'll get you all set up.
Why Are We Using Technology in Our Classrooms?
I've been challenged to consider and act on her comment that "Being paperless does not increase student engagement or improve learning."
She recommends using tech when it can positively impact:
- Collaboration
- Creativity
- Audience
- Feedback
- Interactivity
- Collecting Data
- Choice
In a related article, she writes "Technology does not create engagement, your lesson design does!"
Some great things to think about. We don't need to reinvent our excellent existing lessons just because our students have Chromebooks in front of them. But we can use the tech to create new opportunities for learning in our classrooms.
Want to Spice Up Existing Lessons? We Can Help!
For example, our 5th graders work on a unit about explorers. There's a great unit called "All About Explorers" that introduces the students to the explorers on a website that is full of errors, misinterpretations, and lies. Students have to find facts about the explorers on reputable websites and correct the errors. This is a very fun way to teach the content while teaching students to be critical researchers.
