Piper High School Musical

Hello Piper Theatre Fans!

The Piper High School Theatre Department is proud to produce The Wizard of Oz on November 18-20th at 7:00 pm each night.

Please note that all audience members will be asked to wear a mask as of the writing of this email. The audience will not use social distancing measures for logistical purposes.

To allow audience members to select their seats and to allow for seats to be reserved in advance, we utilize an online ticketing program. We anticipate the crowds being relatively large each evening, so you may want to consider ordering your tickets early. To reserve your tickets early:

1. Go to https://www.showtix4u.com/event-details/58318

2. Select the evening and seats you'd like

3. At checkout, use coupon code C-PiperStaff to get 100% off of your order

4. In order to use the online system, you will still be charged the online service fee

Thank you so much for supporting our students! We look forward to seeing you Over the Rainbow!

Counselor's Corner Bullying Prevention Month!

Daneen Kelsey and Morgan Crusoe are your two school counselors here at Piper Prairie Elementary School!

We go into classrooms to teach lessons about feelings, friends, problem-solving, character traits, and more. Please visit our Piper Prairie Elementary Counseling Page for additional information and support!

In our lessons for Bully Prevention Month, we talked about what bully behavior IS and what it

ISN’T (see below). It is important that we recognize and address bully behavior – or any mean

behavior – but that we are also cautious not to label everything mean as bullying. We want kids to learn how to be problem-solvers in most situations and know when to get help from a trusted adult. If we label all mean situations or conflicts as “bullying,” the word indeed loses its meaning.

In Kindergarten, we read the book Llama Llama and the Bully Goat by Anna Dewdney to help

the kids identify what bully behavior looks like. We did some role play for the first and second graders to differentiate between mean moments, conflicts, and bully behavior. All of our

classes learned about being an Upstander when they see a student targeting another student

with mean or rude behavior, including bullying. Bystanders see mean things

happening but aren’t sure what to do. Upstanders choose to do one of these things: invite the

targeted friend to play something else, speak directly to the offender (“this is not okay”), or get help from a trusted adult. We all watched this video about being an Upstander: Bully Prevention: Be an Upstander!

Finally, I want to invite any fathers or father figures to join our Watch DOG program, returning after a year off for Covid. This is a national program that encourages dads,

grandpas, uncles, brothers, friends, or any other male role model to come volunteer in our

school for a few hours or a full day!

Here is more information about the program: About: Dads Of Great Students

Here is where you can request more information: Prairie Watch DOG interest sign-up

If you send your contact information, it does not require you to sign up! It simply means we will send you a detailed description of how it will work in our building and, if you are interested, help you schedule a day that works for you.

If you need to reach us, here are our email addresses:

How will the district's new mask mandate affect adult visitors to our building?

How will the district's new mask mandate affect adult visitors to the building?

* All visitors to the building must wear a mask at all times while inside the building or outside if around our students.

* Parents and visitors will still be allowed in the building for volunteer work or class parties. Only parents/guardians who have signed up to work parties with their child's teacher will be permitted into the building on party days. (This is not due to the mask policy but a reminder of our schools' party policy.)

* Since lunch time is a "no mask" time due to eating and drinking, there will be no visitors allowed during lunch.

* If the district policy changes as variants change in our community, we will alter visitation policies as necessary. We will always keep you informed if things change.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation as we do everything we can to keep our kids and community safe.
