M. E. Small Elementary Library
February/March Library/Technology
We are very busy in both the library and computer lab.
One of the highlights of February and March was Read Across America Week. We made a Storybook "Quilt" with grades K-3. Kindergarten drew the main character from the Olivia books. First grade was Gilbert's Loose Tooth. Second grade was Rabbit's Gift and third grade was Hooway for Wodney Wat. We hung up two quilts in our school and brought one to our administration building to display. We had a book ball and dressed as our favorite book character. We had Dr. Seuss trivia questions and guessed the amount of goldfish in the jar. A fun time was had by all.
Rhyming Books
We have been doing a lot of rhyming in Kindergarten and Grade One. We have so many great rhyming books in our school library.
Second and Third Grade
We heard a very funny book, Scrambled States of America. Worked on cause and effect with The Day Jimmy's Boa at the Wash and shared one of our all time favorites The Day the Crayons Quit.
Computer Lab
In technology we have been using Tux Paint, picking an animal to research from the Giant Ocean Tank at the New England Aquarium and showing our learning on Discovery Education Board Builder.
