PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE

Hello Weston Families,

This first marking period back to school has been an adjustment for all of our students. We've really focused on making good choices and appropriate school behaviors. I'm happy to report that our students have made great improvements and are settling into a routine. Weston is such a happy place and I'm so grateful to get to see the staff and students each day.

We use the Positivity Project to learn about the importance of character strengths and building positive relationships. Our students work hard to be leaders and demonstrate the other people matter mindset. In November, we will focus on perspective, bravery, and gratitude.

We have several exciting events coming in the near future. See below for more information on Harvest Fest, parent teacher conferences, and upcoming spirit days. Great things are happening at Weston!

Respectfully,

Jessica Hevel

PBIS HAPPENINGS

Positivity Project Shirts: The shirts have been ordered and will be delivered to school in the next couple of weeks. With the help of donations and Weston's PTO, all students will receive a shirt! The staff and students will wear our P2 shirts on Wednesdays as a reminder to follow the other people matter mindset.

Kearsley Christmas Charities: Throughout November, our PBIS initiatives will be focused on raising money for Kearsley Christmas Charities in an effort to show gratitude for what we have and community spirit . We are going to have a spirit week the week of November 15th. Students can donate $1 each day to participate in spirit week. All of the money raised goes directly to Kearsley families in need. More information to come!

VISITORS TO WESTON

If you need to pick your child up early from school or meet with school staff, we ask that you please give us a call. You can call the Weston office at (810)591-8483. Should you need to drop-in for any reason, you must report directly to the main office.

ATTENDANCE MATTERS

If last year taught us anything, it's the importance of students being face to face with teachers on a regular basis. Did you know that missing 10 percent or more of school days due to absence for any reason - excused, unexcused absences and suspensions, can can translate into students having difficulty learning to read by the third grade, achieving in middle school, and graduating high school?

It is our policy that students be in attendance and on time at least 90% of the time.

Should your child need to be absent, we ask that you call school to verify the absence (810)591-8483. For the absence to be considered "medical" we will need a doctor's note.
