Congratulations Mary Burritt!
It is with big cheers, full hearts (and a bit of tears), that we announce the retirement of RES' beloved, Mary Burritt. While it's impossible to put how much Mary means to RES into words, we hope you'll take a moment to click on the link below and leave Mary a brief message from your family. Tribute is free, easy to use from a computer or phone, only takes a minute and doesn't require a login, registration or any personal information from you. Mary's last day at RES is today, but she will be taking some well deserved vacation time before starting her new role as full time grandma to precious Grayson and Samuel.
We kindly request that you complete your brief (please keep under 1 minute) message by Monday, Oct 26, end of day.

President's Message
Creating moments of joy and gratitude is the guiding spirit in October!
Halloween may look different this year and thanks to our dynamic team -- Lisa MacDonald and Becky Rappoccio. Get in the spirit with PJ Monday on Oct 26th; it makes the morning dress routine a cinch! We can’t wait to see the crazy hair, grade colors and Redding spooky spirit at home or in school. And we have 2 drive-in movies on November 1st to close out the Spirit of Halloween week.
Being thankful for school resources and the tireless efforts of our school teachers and staff is fueling the many small notes, kind waves and gentle thank you’s at drop off and pick up. Take a moment to share your gratitude this week. Our PTA team led by Tara Patrick and Melissa Sikoscow not only dropped off coffee and donuts last Wednesday but have partnered to offer online meditation sessions.
We are able to create these wonderful opportunities thanks to your support and membership! Megan Micola said it best in a recent social media post, “Redding parents, reminding you to donate and or/ register for your school PTA! The money, (88cents/$1.00) helps our children!!” Thank you Megan!

2020-2021 4th Grade Yearbook!
The Yearbook team is kicking off an exciting digital platform this week! Join the team, led by Jen Lyons and Stephanie Dionne! Drop Jen an email for date and time -- jenlyons0@gmail.com -- and get involved.
Don’t miss a chance to learn how to send the BEST photos of the past five years into the team. The PTA underwrites 100% of the production and distribution costs of the yearbook -- every student will have a great book at the end of the year.
2020-2021 4th Grade Song!
Students began the important rite of passage this past week with the introduction to Kevin Briody -- resident artist, musician and producer of the annual 4th Grade Song! “Silver Linings” is the theme and students will be working collaboratively to write and produce this important tune to remember 5 great years of school together!
A huge thank you to Illona Bencze Zimmer and Kathy Weiss for co-leading the program. The RES PTA underwrites 100% of the costs of the production and distribution.
Work began this past Thursday and will continue in working sessions tentatively scheduled for Mondays and Thursdays in November.

RES has heART!
Did you know every student at RES received an individual art kit? The RES PTA was one of only two organizations in Connecticut to be awarded a $5,000 grant from the National PTA and TikTok to support social and emotional learning. Our ART KITS are in motion as the children will begin a community mural project using small individual 4"x4" tiles to create heARTs! A huge thank you to Mimi Weiss for leading the project with all K-4 students. We can't wait to see it!
