Greetings Igo Families
Welcome back from spring break! I trust all of our Igo families enjoyed the additional time together and plenty of rest as well.
Welcome New Families
A warm welcome to all of Igo’s new families. We continue to enroll scholars every week and are excited about having them here.
Front Parking Lot Pass Only
The front parking lot is only for buses and vehicles with the “Front Parking Lot” tag. Those vehicles without that specific tag will be asked to turn around and get in the car line that goes around the back of the school. There are adults in the back to greet your child until 7:28 a.m. The front lot may be used after 7:30 for students who are late. If tardy the parents must walk their children into the foyer and sign them in. There is no front of the school drop-off line. Safety is always our goal.
Car Tag Needed
Each student’s family needs to have a car tag. These are given to families as the students register. This tag number will be used as part of Igo’s emergency procedures. If you do not have one please contact the front office.
Attendance/Appointments
When making appointments/checkouts try to schedule after 10:00 a.m. or early in the morning and be back by 10:00 a.m. At the elementary school, attendance is taken at 10:00 a.m. Therefore, in order to be counted as present your student must be here at 10:00 a.m. All instruction time is very important and absences should be avoided if at all possible.

New Bus Routes
Jarrell ISD has purchased five buses in our continued effort to better serve you. They will be ready to use on March 20th, the first day back from spring break. The new routes will alleviate bus wait times and congestion. Since the beginning of the school year, we have made significant changes in our transportation department to improve efficiency. The new buses, plus the addition of crossing guards, underscores our commitment to the safety of your children.
Families impacted by the new bus routes are being notified.
In addition, if you know someone who wants to work as a crossing guard, please share this link: https://bit.ly/3mGTORF.
Igo One Book One School Challenge
Dear Parent/Guardian:
Our school is about to take part in a special, community wide shared reading event. Every child in our two elementary schools will receive a copy of the same book – Because of Winn-Dixie by Kate DiCamillo – and our schools will read it together over the next few weeks.
Everyone – students, teachers, and even administrative staff – will all be following along together. In school, your child will be invited to answer daily trivia questions to encourage and reward attentive listening. In class, students will explore the book through activities and discussion. Throughout the next few weeks, everyone will be talking about Winn-Dixie!
This is a novel program in which children of all grade levels will all be listening to the same book. Strange or daring as that may seem, it actually makes sound educational sense. Reading professionals recommend reading material out loud that is beyond a child's own reading level. We also believe that you can and should continue reading chapter books with your older children, even when they are able to read by themselves. We have selected a title that can be followed and understood and enjoyed by younger students, but will still captivate and stimulate older children.
During this time, we would encourage you to read aloud at home with your children. Reading aloud at home is valuable because it better prepares your child to be an effective reader, and it is also a fun, worthwhile family activity. With this program, we aim to build a Community of Readers at our school. “When a whole school reads a book, there's a lot to talk about.” With your help, we can build a Community of Readers at our school.
SUGGESTED ACTIVITIES…
Write a poem about a pet! Try a haiku, acrostic, or limerick!
Design a new cover for the book.
Build a reading fort together! (bit.ly/readfort)
