Buffett Bulletin Special Edition
February 28, 2018
Message From Your Friendly Neighborhood Principal
Since the February 14th tragedy in Parkland, Florida, the Omaha Police Department have investigated 34 threats made against local schools or students. In light of these events and the safety concerns they bring forward, we want to continue to communicate and uphold the highest safety and security standards here at Buffett Middle School. Please note that during building hours, students are supervised at all times. As students enter and exit the building, there is at least one adult (sometimes multiple) monitoring each door for security. Classroom doors are closed and locked at all times. In an extra effort to affirm our safety and security measures, we would like to boldly state that our building doors will be locked before school and will not open until 7:00 A.M.
Students are not to be in the building or on property before this time. Doors will be unlocked from 7:00-7:45 A.M. and then once again locked until the end of our school day, which is at 3:05 PM. Additionally, at 3:15 P.M., our doors will once again be locked. The only exception will be for school-related athletics and activities. Once again, the purpose for this firm dedication to building hours is so that we may continue to uphold the highest security standards for the safety of our students.
There is nothing more important than keeping our Bobcats safe.
